Super Mario Bros. Wonder For Switch 2 May Add A Fan-Favorite Character

A special edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder is coming to the new Switch 2, and fans believe Nintendo may have unintentionally hinted that Rosalina will be a playable character in the game.

The latest Nintendo Direct showcased a trailer for Super Mario Bros. Wonder on the Switch 2, highlighting Bellabel Park – a new set of multiplayer minigames only available on the Switch 2 where players can cooperate or compete. A keen-eyed fan, DynamoSuperX on X (reported by IGN), noticed a versus minigame icon around the 2:00 mark featuring Yoshi and Rosalina, strongly suggesting Rosalina will be playable in the updated game.

Rosalina wasn’t part of the first release of the game. Nintendo announced during the trailer that the Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder would get new content, and they promised to share more details later. It’s likely Rosalina is one of the surprises Nintendo has been keeping secret until the game is closer to launch.

Given Nintendo’s strong focus on Super Mario Galaxy, adding Rosalina to the game makes a lot of sense. Nintendo recently announced remastered versions of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 will be released this year, and the next Super Mario Bros. Movie, coming in April 2026, will be based on Super Mario Galaxy. Rosalina first appeared in the original Super Mario Galaxy in 2007, and fans can already pre-order a physical copy of her storybook from that game.

I’m so excited! It looks like Super Mario Bros. Wonder + Meet Up In Bellabel Park is coming out in 2026, and it’s not the only big Switch game getting a special edition. They’re also doing Switch 2 Editions of games like Super Mario Party Jamboree and Kirby and The Forgotten Land, which will include some cool extra stuff. It’s a great time to be a Nintendo fan!
