Super Bowl Trailers Set for ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ and ‘Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning,’ But No ‘Wicked 2’ Spot

Ethan Hunt, along with M3GAN and a group of ravenous dinosaurs, are all set to disrupt the major sports event, while Elphaba and Glinda have chosen not to attend this year’s Super Bowl.

On February 9th, the Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles. Historically, the Super Bowl has served as a platform for Hollywood to promote its upcoming films. Previously, we’ve seen sneak peeks of movies like “Independence Day” and “The Avengers” during the championship, along with trailers for “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and “The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

This year, it’s expected that Paramount will broadcast advertisements for “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” a film where Tom Cruise is believed to make his final appearance as the daring IMF agent. Additionally, they will show previews for “The Smurfs” and the suspenseful movie “Novocaine” starring Jack Quaid.

Universal is planning to unveil a teaser for “Jurassic World Rebirth,” a fresh installment of the franchise featuring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey as the main characters/dino meals. Additionally, they’ll be marketing Blumhouse’s “M3gan 2.0” and the live-action adaptation of the popular DreamWorks animation film “How to Train Your Dragon.” Unfortunately, no additional sneak peeks will be provided for “Wicked: For Good,” the upcoming sequel to the blockbuster hit “Wicked,” as it won’t have a trailer showing this time. This was previously revealed when it aired a teaser during the Super Bowl last year.

Disney is likely to emphasize marketing their summer movies. Thus, it’s reasonable to expect trailers for upcoming films such as Marvel’s “Thunderbolts,” “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” the live-action version of “Lilo & Stitch,” and Pixar’s “Elio” will be shown.

While some studios and streamers might consider the Super Bowl as a marketing platform, not all do. For instance, Netflix, which has historically advertised its films during the match, won’t participate this time around. Similarly, Amazon has no intentions of promoting anything during the game. Warner Bros., Lionsgate, and Sony are also likely to abstain from advertising during the Super Bowl, with Sony’s plans remaining unclear at present.
