Sunrise on the Reaping finally reveals names of Katniss’ mom and dad

Approximately one day has passed since “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” hit bookstore shelves, and at last, the genuine names of Katniss Everdeen’s parents have been revealed after a prolonged period of anticipation.

The Hunger Games series continues to expand, encompassing prequels to the initial trilogy, which chronicles Katniss Everdeen’s journey in the games she participated in and her subsequent revolutionary actions.

Following the release of the film adaptation of “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” last year, we now have “Sunrise on the Reaping,” a story centered around Haymitch Abernathy’s experience in the Hunger Games, as he served as mentor to Katniss during her own games.

Katniss’ mom and dad are officially named in Sunrise on the Reaping

Brace yourselves… It has been revealed that Katniss Everdeen’s parents are named Burdock Everdeen and Asterid March following the Sunrise ceremony.

In the initial book series and films, Katniss’ parents were referred to as Mr. and Mrs. Everdeen. Her mother was living at the time of the original District 12 lottery, but her father had passed away due to a mining accident several years prior.

Thanks to the recently acquired book, we’re now delving into some long-awaited background details. Burdock was not only a close companion to Haymitch but also an accomplished hunter and plant expert. Moreover, he is always seen carrying his reliable bow, which brings to mind someone familiar (hint: think of Katniss Everdeen).

Later on, we discover that Burdock has a special affection for Asterid March, which strongly suggests that she is Katniss’ mother. In Sunrise, she is portrayed as being excessively wealthy and attractive compared to Burdock, despite the fact that books earlier in the series reveal she came from a much less affluent part of District 12 than Burdock did.

In the original trilogy, we learned about Asterid’s abilities with potions, which are showcased once more here. She creates healing balms at her father’s pharmacy in Sunrise, but there is a stronger connection that may ring a bell.
