As a seasoned cinephile who’s spent countless hours immersed in the rich tapestry of global cinema, I find myself drawn to the captivating synopsis of “Two Women.” The fact that it’s directed by Chloé Robichaud, whose previous works have graced prestigious festivals like Cannes, adds a layer of anticipation.
Pulsar Content has secured global sales for the sultry Canadian comedy “Two Women,” set to make its debut at Sundance’s world premiere.
Under the direction of Chloé Robichaud, “Two Women” is penned by renowned playwright Catherine Léger, who has adapted it from her own work, “Home Deliveries,” which in turn is a contemporary reinterpretation of Claude Fournier’s 1970 comedy, “Two Women In Gold.
The story “Two Women” centers around neighbors Violette and Florence, both of whom, despite their accomplished careers and families, grapple with feelings of failure. The plot poses a question: Could joy come from breaking free of a strict, success-oriented society by occasionally opting for immediate pleasure over achievement, and choosing freedom over conformity? In a world where enjoyment often takes a back seat to other priorities, an impromptu adventure with a delivery person could become a radical act. This spontaneous excitement is the invigorating change that Violette and Florence have been yearning for.
The main actors are headed by Karine Gonthier-Hyndman, known for her roles in “Happily Married,” and Laurence Leboeuf, who appears on NBC’s “Transplant” and the Sundance film “Turbo Kid.” Additionally, Felix Moati (“Sink or Swim”) and Mani Souleymanlou (“Universal Language”) complete the cast.
Robichaud first appeared in a leading role with “Sarah Prefers To Run,” a depiction of a young sports enthusiast, which was screened at Cannes’ Un Certain Regard. Following this, her next two films, “Boundaries” and “Days Of Happiness,” had their premieres at Toronto. Additionally, she directed several short films, including “Delphine,” which garnered an award at Toronto and was shown at Venice.
The film titled “Two Women” is created by the Montreal-based production company, Amerique Film. Maison 4:3 plans to distribute this movie across Canada in the year 2025.
Alongside collaborating on the screenplay, Léger was also involved in producing the film “Two Women.” Among her recent work as a writer and co-producer is Monia Chokri’s successful movie “Babysitter,” which debuted at Sundance. Additionally, Léger penned the big-screen version of “Goddess Of The Fireflies” that was showcased at the Berlin Film Festival in 2020.
In 2025, America Films plans to produce a British version of “SGW,” directed by Theresa Varga and co-produced with Dan Films. Additionally, they are set to adapt “It’s Worst at Christmas” from the novel “I lost my husband.” Sandrine Brodeur Desrosiers is slated to direct this adaptation, having previously won the Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for her work on “Just Me and You.
Pulsar Content, a French film sales company led by Gilles Sousa and Marie Garrett, is excited to announce they will be showcasing ‘Two Women,’ directed by Chloé Robichaud and written by Catherine Léger. This project from these talented creators promises to deliver a fresh, smart, and delightful comedy that is sure to make waves in the festival and market circuits,” stated Pulsar Content.
America Film expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the production by saying, “Thank you for your work, your skill, and your talent that made this film possible.” They labeled “Two Women” as a “comedy with a sharp, appealing edge.
Pulsar Content’s lineup features films such as “NIKI,” directed by Céline Sallette and shown in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard, which tells the story of Niki de Saint-Phalle; the title for Cannes’ Critics Week, “Block Pass”; and “The Opera!”, an ambitious musical with stars like Vincent Cassel, Fanny Ardant, and Rossy De Palma. Other new additions to their roster include Michele Placido’s feature film “Eternal Visionary” about Luigi Pirandello, Baya Kasmi’s “Mikado,” and “Somewhere in Love” starring Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, directed by Morgan Simon.
