Wow, the Emmys were amazing last night! Seeing Stephen Colbert get so much love was really special. And *The Studio* and *Adolescence* totally killed it, sweeping the awards in their categories. But honestly, beyond the winners, everyone was talking about what the stars were wearing. Justine Lupe’s outfit was seriously one of the best of the night, though her story about almost showing a little too much was pretty unexpected and hilarious!
Justine Lupe, known for her role as Willa on *Succession*, didn’t receive an Emmy nomination this year. However, she was at the ceremony as part of the cast of *Nobody Wants This*, which was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. While the Netflix series didn’t win, Lupe certainly made a statement with her stunning gown.
The actress wore a daring, sheer dress – seemingly from Carolina Herrera’s upcoming Fall 2025 line – made entirely of chains and silver disks. The look, similar to Miley Cyrus’ memorable safety pin dress from last year’s Grammys, featured a revealing neckline. She completed the outfit with diamond rings and earrings, and styled her blonde hair in loose waves.
It seems her team considered an additional accessory as well, as Justine Lupe revealed to ET that attempts were made to tape her butt cheeks together. Why? The actress explained:
I probably shouldn’t say this, but we actually considered taping my rear together to avoid a wardrobe malfunction. My stylist even did a quick test to see if it would work. We were debating whether it would be visible and ended up getting a lot of fashion tape just in case.
Justine Lupe seemed to be inspired by a famous Met Gala outfit worn by Rihanna – a style also known for being favored by Kim Kardashian, and which includes a hint of exposed skin. Did her attempt at the look succeed? She explained:
No, it was a fail, and I probably shouldn’t even be sharing it. That’s what’s real. That’s real.
We sure do love it when celebrities get real.
Jenna Ortega, known for her roles in *Nobody Wants This* and *Wednesday*, was a fashion highlight of the night. She wore a stunning, jewel-encrusted top from Sarah Burton’s Givenchy collection-a daring look that her character from *Wednesday* probably wouldn’t have approved of! The top was so unique, it resembled a beautifully disassembled chandelier and featured a lot of exposed skin.
While many celebrities have been embracing sheer or revealing dresses lately – Margot Robbie recently stunned in a glittering gown at the London premiere of *A Big Bold Beautiful Journey* – the *Beetlejuice Beetlejuice* star chose a different approach and didn’t opt for that look.
It’s always entertaining to see what celebrities wear on the red carpet, but I never really considered how much effort goes into creating certain looks – like a visible hint of skin. If you’re a fan of Justine Lupe, you can watch her in *Succession* on HBO Max or the second season of *Nobody Wants This*, which premieres on Netflix on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
