Sturm & Drang Location and Drops in Borderlands 4

The Borderlands 4: Legend of the Stone Demon DLC features several challenging bosses in the Demon’s Domain. Some, like Bore-Tex, are rewarding to defeat with valuable loot, while others, such as Sturm & Drang, can be quite frustrating.

Sturm & Drang is a boss fight where you face two enemies at once, much like some of the Ripper Drill Site bosses in the main game. You’ll also have to deal with a large wave of tough, smaller enemies during the fight.

Here’s a guide to Sturm & Drang in Borderlands 4, covering where to find them and what kind of loot they drop.

Sturm & Drang Location

Sturm & Drang is a boss character in Borderlands 4’s Legend of the Stone Demon DLC, found within a specific mine. To reach him, players must follow a designated path.

Begin at the Demonhold fast travel point and head north into the main chamber. Continue east, and you’ll find yourself on one of two paths leading into another large area. This route is more like the one to Bore-Tex than the path to Chisabella.

Don’t go to Bore-Tex right now. Instead, go west and carefully descend the waterfalls. You’ll find someone there to talk to.

You need to go to the top of the next big room. Once you’re there, the path will divide, going both north and south. Take the path that leads south.

If you’re facing this boss for the first time, you’ll find the door to the southern path is locked. To unlock it, head to the hut right before the door and find a power core.

This opens the door and lets you continue towards the boss. Simply follow this path, and it will take you straight to the arena.

Sturm & Drang Drops

Like the other optional bosses in this downloadable content, Sturm & Drang have two unique items they can drop after you defeat them. Here’s what they might give you:

Item Name Type Ability
Hair Trigger Shotgun Timed Charge — When you release the trigger, all projectiles fired from the weapon explode.
Laser Disker Assault Rifle Shazbot — Deals 200% damage to airborne enemies.

The first weapon is the legendary Hair Trigger shotgun. Its special ability, Timed Charge, makes all the pellets explode as soon as you let go of the fire button.

This shotgun is very powerful because it holds 25 rounds. Increasing the magazine size will make it even more damaging.

The Laser Disker is a powerful assault rifle with a unique ability called Shazbot. Shazbot significantly increases the weapon’s damage – by 200% – when hitting enemies in the air. While not always essential, this ability is incredibly effective if you’re already building a character focused on launching enemies upwards.

Tips for Fighting Sturm & Drang

Sturm & Drang is a frustrating boss, comparable to challenging encounters like Sludgemaw, Axemaul, and Chisabella. All of these bosses share a common trait: they’re covered in crystals that need to be cleared before you can actually hurt them.

Sturm is a large, powerful enemy, while Drang is quick and agile. Both leave elemental hazards on the battlefield during the fight. Sturm attacks by throwing electric blasts, and Drang uses corrosive projectiles.

Okay, so this boss fight throws out two kinds of projectiles, and they both leave puddles on the ground where they land. These aren’t just cosmetic – they’re elemental hazards, so you really need to watch where you’re stepping! Getting caught in those puddles will definitely hurt, so keep moving and pay attention to the floor.

The bosses also regain health from these pools: Sturm heals while in electric pools, and Drang heals in corrosive ones.

Honestly, I’ve found it’s way better to take on the bosses one at a time. I’d suggest starting with Sturm – he’s definitely the easiest, and getting him out of the way just simplifies everything so much!

After breaking the crystals, you can defeat Sturm quickly with fire-based weapons. Drang has armor that’s vulnerable to corrosive attacks, but radiation damage seems to work even better, so I suggest using that instead.
