Both mugs are made from ceramic that resists water. They’re also safe to use in the dishwasher and microwave. You can see official photos of each mug below.

Studio Ghibli’s Unique My Neighbor Totoro & Howl’s Moving Castle Mugs Return to Official Store

The Pokopoko Raindrop mug features a design inspired by a beloved scene from the movie My Neighbor Totoro. It shows Totoro smiling and sheltering himself with a black umbrella – a gift given to him by the young character Satsuki while waiting for her father in the rain. This moment marks the start of their heartwarming friendship. The design also includes the smaller Totoros, who are depicted holding tiny leaf umbrellas, just like their leader.

The “Perfect Day for Laundry” mug features a heartwarming scene from Howl’s Moving Castle. It shows Howl’s apprentice, Markl, helping Sophie with laundry, highlighting the close, family-like relationship between all the characters in the film. Even Calcifer, the popular fire demon, is included on the mug, though he wasn’t actually present during this particular scene in the anime.

Both My Neighbor Totoro and Howl’s Moving Castle were created by the same director and writer. My Neighbor Totoro is a sweet and touching story about a family, specifically two sisters, who make friends with magical forest spirits near their new home.

Unlike other stories, this one takes place in a world where magic and everyday life coexist. Sophie, a young woman cursed with the body of an old woman by a jealous witch, turns to the enigmatic wizard Howl for assistance. Little does she know, Howl is also battling a secret curse of his own. The movie is inspired by the beloved fantasy novel of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones.

Donguri Sora is selling Totoro and Howl mugs separately, each priced at 2,750 yen (about $17.51) including tax. While Donguri Sora only ships within Japan, you can find Ghibli merchandise from various online retailers internationally, such as Meccha Japan and Sugoi Mart. In the United States, Ghibli products are available at stores like Hot Topic, Box Lunch, and Barnes & Noble.

Studio Ghibli films are available on either Max or Netflix, depending on where you are located.
