‘Stranger Things’ Star Revisits Miles Morales Casting Hopes

Peter Parker is the first Spider-Man, and Tom Holland currently plays him in movies. However, Miles Morales quickly became another popular version of the character after his introduction in Marvel Comics in 2011, gaining a dedicated fanbase. The Spider-Verse animated films significantly increased his recognition, and Kevin Feige, who leads the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has stated his desire to bring Miles Morales into live-action films.

Fans have often suggested Caleb McLaughlin, known for his role in Stranger Things, as the perfect actor to play Miles Morales. McLaughlin himself is enthusiastic about the possibility. He recently told Variety at a screening of his film Goat that he’d be thrilled to take on the role, explaining that Miles Morales symbolizes something important for many people.

McLaughlin’s own upbringing in the Bronx strengthens his connection to Miles Morales, who is a native New Yorker. The actor explained, “Growing up in New York and then seeing the Spider-Verse story, it feels deeply personal and I think a lot of people relate to that connection.”

Everybody Wants Caleb McLaughlin to Play Miles Morales. It’s Just a Matter of When.

As a huge Spider-Man fan, I’m so excited for what’s coming! We’ll finally get the third and last Spider-Verse movie, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, on June 18, 2027 – and thankfully, Shameik Moore is still voicing Miles! But even better, a new Peter Parker Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is hitting theaters much sooner, on July 31, 2026. It’s going to be a great couple of years for Spider-Man fans like me!

If you’re interested in seeing what McLaughlin can do, his new animated movie, Goat, comes out next Friday, February 13th. It’s about a young goat named Will Harris (voiced by McLaughlin) who gets the amazing opportunity to play roarball – a sport similar to basketball, but played by talking animals! The movie also stars Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Hudson, Nick Kroll, McLaughlin’s Stranger Things co-star David Harbour, Jenifer Lewis, Aaron Pierre, Patton Oswalt, Jelly Roll, and even Steph Curry.
