‘Stranger Things’ Star Claims 1 MCU Villain Could Defeat Vecna

Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on Stranger Things, wondered which fictional character could possibly defeat the show’s villain. As fans eagerly awaited the first part of the final season on Netflix, the cast discussed how incredibly powerful Vecna, the series’ main antagonist, truly is. Thinking about the challenge of facing Vecna – who controls the Mind Flayer and all the monsters from the Upside Down – they began to imagine characters from other stories who might have a chance of winning.

At the Los Angeles premiere of Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1, Entertainment Weekly asked the main actors which villain from another story they think could defeat the show’s monster.

You know, the coolest answer definitely came from Noah Schnapp! Someone asked him which monster or villain from any fictional world could actually take down Vecna, and he didn’t even hesitate to pick a powerhouse from the Marvel Cinematic Universe – he totally skipped over all the usual horror and fantasy suspects!

Schnapp immediately compared the situation to Thanos from the Marvel movies, even mimicking the villain’s famous finger snap, saying, “Yeah, with a little snap.”

Finn Wolfhard (Will Byers), nicknamed ‘Schnapp’ by fans, wasn’t the only one to see connections between the show and other scary stories. His co-stars, Natalia Dyer (who plays Nancy Wheeler) and Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), were also drawn to the character of Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter series.

Dyer observed that because the cast members are all young and growing up together, they occasionally discuss Harry Potter. He jokingly compared himself to Voldemort, wondering if he fit that villainous role.

Sink agreed, emphasizing that the story demanded a specific type of villain for the upcoming conflict. She felt the fight required someone with a particular magical background. “Perhaps someone like Voldemort, or a character with a similar mix of human and dark magical abilities. Yeah, maybe Voldemort would work.”

Millie Bobby Brown, known for her role as the superpowered Eleven, decided her character would face a villain with a history of directly opposing and frightening Vecna.

Honestly, I’m completely captivated by Eleven. Millie Bobby Brown just gets her, you know? She was saying, and I totally agree, that we have to believe in Eleven, root for her. It’s like, she can pull through, and we just need to be there cheering her on.

How Difficult Will It Be To Defeat Vecna in Stranger Things 5?

As a huge fan, I can tell you the final showdown with Vecna – that’s Henry Creel, or Number 001 – is seriously the biggest, most terrifying threat Hawkins has ever seen. When Volume 1 of Stranger Things 5 dropped, it really hit home just how bad things are. The town is completely shattered from the rifts he opened at the end of Season 4, and you can just feel the stakes are higher than ever before.

Vecna is now confirmed as the one who has been pulling the strings since the very beginning, responsible for all the monsters and terrible events. He’s far more powerful than anything the characters have faced before, and isn’t just a frightening creature – he’s a strong psychic who actually created the ruined and desolate world of the Upside Down.

After being quiet for nearly two years, Vecna began his ultimate plan to destroy Hawkins by collecting twelve children, including Holly Wheeler. He plans to use them as bodies to take over and remake the world as he sees fit.

Will Byers is central to both defeating Vecna and the danger the heroes face. The psychic link established when Will was taken in 1983 isn’t just a feeling – it’s a real connection. This allows Will to sense when Vecna is near, similar to how Harry Potter could sense Voldemort.

What once made Will vulnerable is now his greatest asset. As shown in Volume 1, he can actually use Vecna’s power. He’s able to control and destroy Demogorgons, making him crucial to finding and severing the psychic connection that fuels Vecna’s strength.
