Season 5 will be the final season of Stranger Things, though the story isn’t completely over – there are plans for spin-off shows. The Duffer brothers have recently shared details about one of those spin-offs, which will be an animated series. But for those following the main story in Hawkins, there’s an important update to be aware of.
November 26th will mark a major event in television history with the release of the first part of Stranger Things’ final season on Netflix. The second part, and the series finale, are scheduled to arrive on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve in 2025.
Following their work on Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer have made a deal with Paramount Pictures. Through their production company, Upside Down Pictures, they’ll be developing new films, television series, and streaming content over the next four years.
Despite the main story ending, the world of Stranger Things will continue. The Duffer brothers, the show’s creators, will remain involved in new projects, including a live-action anthology and an animated series called Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85.
Stranger Things spinoffs will never feature main Hawkins cast
The creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer brothers, recently shared details about their upcoming animated series, Tales From ‘85. The show will take place between the second and third seasons of Stranger Things.

According to Ross Duffer (via What’s On Netflix), the show revisits a six-month period we haven’t seen before. It’s enjoyable to watch the characters as children, but it’s not a simple repeat of past events.
Fans will be thrilled to hear this news, as it marks the first time the brothers have shared this particular detail about the new show.
Unfortunately, none of the core characters from Hawkins will be back, either through voice acting in ‘Tales From ‘85’ or in the upcoming live-action anthology series.
According to the creators, this truly marks the end for Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Steve, and the whole story set in Hawkins. They’ve confirmed there won’t be any reboots, revivals, or sequels featuring these characters.
Still, nine years is a good run, and there’s plenty to be excited about when it comes to Season 5.
Season 5 to explore Will’s feelings for Mike

Noah Schnapp also shared that the final season will finally explain the origins of Will Byers’ kidnapping. The season will begin with a flashback scene showing a younger Will.
Noah Schnapp revealed that the show will delve deeper into Will’s romantic feelings for Mike. He explained that these feelings have always been present and will now be explored in a genuine and meaningful way.
“Season 5 hits a touch on every emotion you could think of: fear, heartbreak, anger, trauma.”
Caleb McLaughlin, who plays Lucas, said Season 5 felt like a mix of the show’s first and fourth seasons. Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, shared that he was happy with how his character’s story ended, calling it even more impactful than he expected.
