As a fan of the series, I can confidently say these new episodes of Stranger Things deliver – no one will be disappointed. I’m giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. And it’s not just me – Ed Power from the Daily Telegraph UK called it seriously comforting viewing, and even suggested it might surpass Game of Thrones in quality, which is high praise indeed! Things are looking really good for this show.
Ed Potton of The Times UK rated the show 4 out of 5 stars, calling it “richly entertaining with real stakes and a lot of heart.” Bob Strauss from TheWrap praised its simplicity, which he felt allowed the show’s compelling character interactions, cultural details, and unsettling mythological themes to truly shine.
Despite some positive feedback, the latest season received criticism. Sam Adams from Slate gave it a negative review, stating that the show feels disconnected from both its characters and the audience, trapped in a self-contained and stifling environment.
Ben Travers of IndieWire gave the first part of the season a ‘C+’ grade, noting it didn’t quite deliver on its potential. Roxana Hadadi from Vulture felt the season wasn’t as frightening or unique as it should have been as it approached its climax.
