The show first aired in 2016 and is finishing up its run in the coming weeks after nearly ten years. Just before the Season 5 premiere on November 6th, as anticipation was growing, rumors of a scandal began to surface.
A report surfaced on November 1st alleging harassment involving David Harbour, prompting an internal investigation. While representatives for both actors remained silent, they publicly appeared together, looking relaxed and offering positive comments about each other. Now, a new report, citing a source familiar with the situation, is shedding light on Millie Bobby Brown’s original complaint.
I was really surprised the two actors didn’t talk about the accusations at the premiere. But Variety is reporting that people close to the situation have confirmed there was an investigation into the complaint, and it’s been dealt with. Apparently, a representative was there to support the actor who raised the issue. It’s a little unsettling considering they play father and daughter on the show – they filmed a lot of scenes together for Season 5, and a reporter was even on set during one of those scenes back in July 2024.
According to an article in the Daily Mail, Brown filed a formal complaint about Harbour before the fifth season of the show began. She allegedly accused him of bullying and harassment, but the report emphasized that her complaints didn’t involve any sexual misconduct. The article stated that the network then launched an internal investigation, which lasted several months.
At the movie’s premiere, Brown shared with Entertainment Tonight that she and David have a close, father-daughter relationship, as they worked together on every scene. She described having him with her throughout the process as a really special experience.
David Harbour recently told ET—the only publication he spoke with—that he has a lot of affection for his ‘Stranger Things’ co-stars. He expressed pride in watching them develop as actors and shared that this project felt particularly meaningful because they’ve all become very close.
Stranger Things Creators Addressed Millie Bobby Brown & David Harbour Harassment Reports
The premiere was buzzing with anticipation for the final episodes, and fans were delighted to see the cast still had great chemistry after working together for nearly ten years. Although recent accusations created a difficult atmosphere, the event also became a chance for the cast to demonstrate their solidarity and emphasize that the show’s story is more important than any behind-the-scenes issues.
Ross and Matt Duffer, the creators of the show, also addressed the claims while speaking with reporters. They explained they couldn’t discuss specific issues that happened on set, but emphasized that they’ve worked with the cast for a decade and consider them like family. Their priority is always ensuring a safe and positive environment for everyone involved.
Director and executive producer Shawn Levy responded to recent reports, saying many of them are inaccurate and there’s a lot of misinformation circulating. He emphasized that the production team prioritized creating a safe and comfortable work environment for everyone, and they’re proud of the steps they took to achieve that.
After working with this cast for a decade, we consider them family and truly care about their well-being. Creating a safe and happy environment on set is our top priority.
Season 5 of Stranger Things is back! The first four episodes will be available starting November 26th. You can watch the next three episodes on Christmas Day, and the season will conclude with the final episode airing on December 31st.
