Stranger Things’ Joe Keery Joining MCU Gets Exciting Update

Rumors began earlier this month that Joe Keery, known for his role in Stranger Things, might join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some fans guessed he could play Harry Osborn in a potential Spider-Man: Brand New Day project. Now, there’s a new development regarding Keery’s possible discussions with Marvel Studios.

What’s the new MCU update about Stranger Things star Joe Keery?

A rumor started circulating that Joe Keery might play Harry Osborn in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, but according to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel is actually considering him for a different role. Fans have also suggested Keery would be a good fit for Nova or Cyclops. If Keery is cast, it could mean a reunion with his “Stranger Things” co-star, Sadie Sink, who also has a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though her character hasn’t been revealed yet.

A source suggests that Eman Esfandi, known for his role in Ahsoka, may have already been cast in Spider-Man 4 as MJ’s new boyfriend. This role was previously held by James Franco in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films and Dane DeHaan in the Andrew Garfield movies.

Okay, so I’m super excited about the new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is hitting theaters on July 31, 2026! Destin Daniel Cretton is directing, and the script is by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers – the team behind the last few Spidey flicks, which I loved. Of course, Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and thankfully Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned are returning too! Mark Ruffalo is also reprising his role as one of the Avengers, which is awesome. But the cast additions are what really got me hyped – Sadie Sink is joining, and Jon Bernthal is back as the Punisher! Plus, we’ve got Liza Colón-Zayas, Michael Mando as Scorpion, Marvin Jones III as Tombstone, and Tramell Tillman. There was a buzz a while back that Tillman might be playing the new head of Damage Control, and honestly, that would be a fantastic addition!
