The campaign to Stop Killing Games has gained momentum now that the British government has scheduled a debate on the petition that has been seeking action for a long time.
Stop Killing Games (SKG) began in April 2024 when YouTuber Ross Scott, known as Accursed Farms, started a petition. The group advocates for publishers to avoid abandoning live-service games after developers stop providing official updates and support.
The petition, aimed at the European Union, has exceeded its goal and gathered over 1 million signatures in support.
So, it hasn’t really been talked about in the European Parliament yet, but the UK government has definitely taken notice of it. As a gamer, I’m curious to see if other governments will follow suit!
UK politicians debating Stop Killing Games in November
On September 19th, the UK Government announced they would be holding a debate regarding the petition on November 3rd.
An email was sent to all 190,000 people who signed the petition, letting them know they can watch the debate on the UK Parliament’s YouTube channel.
You’ll be pleased to know that Parliament will be discussing the petition you signed, which asks for a ban on publishers permanently removing video games after they’ve been sold. The debate is set for November 3, 2025, and we’ll send you a video and written record of it afterward.

The government has responded to this petition before. In February 2025, they explained that they don’t intend to change UK consumer laws regarding disabled video games. They emphasized that sellers are already required to follow existing laws, and they will keep the situation under review.
Since then, the petition has surpassed its goal of 1 million signatures, demonstrating significant and lasting public support – it’s clearly more than just a temporary trend.
This issue is also expected to affect the European Union, as they are still gathering information and feedback on SKG’s request until October 24th. After that, it will take additional time to be discussed by parliament.
