Stewie Griffin is “finally” getting his own Family Guy spinoff

Wow! Not only will Family Guy continue for at least four more seasons, but its creator, Seth MacFarlane, is also developing a new spinoff series focusing on the character Stewie Griffin.

Family Guy is currently airing its 24th season and has recently reached a significant achievement: 450 episodes! Creating each episode is a lengthy process, taking creator Seth MacFarlane and his team anywhere from 10 months to a full year.

Despite rumors, Family Guy isn’t ending anytime soon. In fact, Fox renewed the show for four more seasons – seasons 24, 25, 26, and 27 – which will keep it on the air through 2029.

A new report from Deadline says Stewie Griffin, the famously sassy toddler known for his plans to take over the world and distinctive British accent, is getting his own show.

So, I just heard about this new animated show coming from Seth MacFarlane and the team at 20th Television Animation. It’s hitting TV screens sometime in the 2027-28 season, and the really cool part is, you’ll be able to stream it on Hulu the very next day here in the US. If you’re outside the US, it’ll be on Disney+ instead, which is awesome!

According to Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva, the new series will likely have a bit fewer than 15 episodes per season, which is the current length for shows from 20th Animation produced for Fox. The exact episode count hasn’t been announced yet.

Stewie finds himself at a less-than-ideal preschool after being expelled from his previous one. He has to adjust to a new group of kids and a very opinionated, elderly class turtle who seems to have a theory about everything.

Stewie is unhappy, and so are all the other children—even the turtle! But things change when Stewie starts using his gadgets to whisk everyone away on incredible journeys through space and time, transforming dull school days into wild and bizarre adventures.

As a huge fan, I’m so relieved to hear Seth MacFarlane is still voicing Stewie – that’s essential! And apparently, whatever happens in this new show won’t change anything with Stewie’s story in Family Guy, which is great – I don’t want either show messing with the other!

MacFarlane expressed his gratitude to Fox for the chance to work on the show, jokingly adding that he’s looking forward to the appearance of a close collaboration.

Fans are thrilled with the announcement, with one enthusiastically offering to pay for two more seasons. Another commenter simply expressed surprise at how long it took for the news to arrive.

One person expressed excitement for Stewie finally getting recognition, while another enthusiastically agreed, saying it was long overdue.

While we wait for updates, be sure to see what’s coming up with our 2026 TV show release calendar.
