Released in November 1987, the comedy Planes, Trains and Automobiles was a hit with audiences and critics alike. It earned over $49.5 million at the box office on a budget of just $15 million. The film continues to be highly rated, currently holding a 93% ‘Certified Fresh’ score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 68 reviews.

Beyond being a classic holiday movie, Planes, Trains and Automobiles features a beloved performance by John Candy. The film is frequently referenced in pop culture – the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine will include a nod to it, continuing a tradition started in the previous two Deadpool movies.
