Stephen Curry’s Unanimous Media Teams Up With Comcast on Underdog Cheer Team Docuseries ‘Spirit’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Stephen Curry has been confirmed as partnering with Comcast to share the authentic tale of a history-making underdog cheer squad, which EbMaster has learned in an exclusive report.

Curry and Erick Peyton are overseeing the production of “Spirit” through their multimedia company, Unanimous Media, in collaboration with The WorkShop Content Studios and FreshFly. This four-part series tells the story of a cheerleading team from George Washington High School who, for the first time in Philadelphia’s school district history, qualified for the NCA High School Nationals.

The TV show is led by Matt Howley, hailing from Philadelphia. In conjunction with the show’s launch, Unanimous Media unveiled a promotional clip, highlighting the squad’s journey as they write a fresh chapter in their lives.

In a joint statement, Curry and Peyton expressed that ‘Spirit’ is a tale about adolescence centered around a team of athletic individuals overcoming obstacles, demonstrating the impact sports can have on an individual, a team, and their school. The series focuses on these youngsters as they discover their purpose and potential through competitive cheerleading. ‘Spirit’ is a heartwarming underdog narrative, and we’re eager for viewers to witness the team excel, proving naysayers wrong.

Basketball star Curry has ventured into Hollywood projects before, with his latest endeavor being a scripted TV role in ‘Mr. Throwback,’ a mockumentary series he also produced. Prior to this, he executive produced a documentary titled ‘Sentenced’ on Peacock, which focuses on the current crisis of childhood illiteracy.

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that starting February 27, you can stream the captivating film “Spirit” exclusively on Comcast’s Black Experience on Xfinity. To get a glimpse of what awaits you, feast your eyes on the trailer below! Enjoy the cinematic journey!
