As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt and a Marvel enthusiast since the 90s, I must say that the latest cosmetic skins for Hela and Scarlet Witch in Marvel Rivals have truly caught my eye (and wallet). The Goddess of Death’s design harkens back to her classic comic book roots, while the Scarlet Witch’s skin pays homage to one of her most memorable live-action appearances.
Over the past weekend, two additional characters were showcased in the Rivals Assemble video, a companion to daily updates from Marvel Rivals developer NetEase Games. With the approaching launch of the team-based PvP shooter, two highly recognized Marvel Rivals characters unveiled their fresh cosmetic skins that sparked a lot of buzz online.
In the case of Hela and Scarlet Witch, their character designs were widely admired, with many fans hoping that the developer would draw inspiration from the characters’ live-action portrayals. Now, players must decide: will they embody the Goddess of Death or demonstrate the unparalleled purity of a mother’s love in these upcoming cosmetic skins for Marvel Rivals?
The past week was momentous for the superhero team-focused PvP shooter game, marked by several noteworthy events. To start, it began with the initial Developer Vision update, revealing what gamers can expect when the game officially debuts in December 2024. Subsequently, the newest playable character, Clint Barton (Hawkeye), was added to the expanding roster. Furthermore, we were given a sneak peek at Birnin T’Challa map that will be available upon release. To conclude the week, two more characters received fresh cosmetic skins for players to obtain.
On November 23rd, 2024, Hela, the Goddess of Death, was introduced on social media, accompanying the Rivals Assemble video. In this game, players can summon Hela’s fury and witness their adversaries crumble under her new aesthetic skin. This cosmetic skin for “Hela,” the Goddess of Death” is set to debut in Marvel Rivals, with a design inspired by her comic book appearance in Thor #354 (1966). In this issue, she battled to seize Odin’s soul and control over Asgard.
On the 24th of November, 2024, it was Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, who claimed the spotlight. She was treated to a Rivals Assemble video companion and an equally captivating cosmetic skin. This new cosmetic skin for the Scarlet Witch transcends multiple realities and timeframes. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will recognize this design as it’s largely influenced by one of the character’s most prominent live-action portrayals in the 2022 film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
It’s common knowledge that all the Marvel Rivals skins for cosmetic purposes are divided into several groups: holiday festive skins, popular themes, Imperial Protocol, Comic Classics, and MCU. Hela and Scarlet Witch fall under the categories of Comic Classics and MCU respectively. As for how players might acquire these skins, it’s still uncertain. They could potentially be obtained through the in-game store, the Season 0 Battle Pass, or as a reward for completing Galacta’s Quest missions. However, we won’t know for sure until more information is released.
