Ugh, it looks like the Steam Deck is sold out again in a bunch of places. Valve just said it’s because they’re having trouble getting enough memory and storage chips. Basically, they can’t make enough Decks right now to keep up with demand, which is super frustrating as a gamer who’s been waiting!
Recently, the price of RAM (computer memory) has skyrocketed and become hard to find, largely due to its increased use in artificial intelligence. This has worried gamers about potential problems with upcoming game consoles – like delays in their release or higher prices. It’s also causing temporary shortages of various products as companies compete to secure enough RAM for manufacturing.
The Steam Deck is currently facing stock issues due to a shortage of RAM. Valve has announced that the popular handheld gaming device may be unavailable in several areas.
Steam Deck out of stock in multiple countries due to RAM shortage
Valve announced on the Steam Deck page that the OLED model might be temporarily unavailable in some areas because of parts shortages. They also stated that they’ve stopped making the 256GB LCD model, and it won’t be restocked when it sells out.

So, we all knew the original Steam Deck (the LCD one) was getting phased out, but it looks like the new OLED model is just as tough to snag! I’ve been checking the Steam website, and it seems like it’s completely sold out in a bunch of different countries. Seriously frustrating if you were hoping to upgrade!
The US is currently facing stock issues with the Steam Deck OLED, with many customers reporting it’s sold out. As of today, the Steam Deck is still available for purchase in the UK.

So, Valve’s told us the stock problems won’t be constant, which is good news. They’re working hard to get the handheld to as many of us gamers as possible, so it shouldn’t be out of stock for too long.
