Okay, so ConcernedApe just dropped some hints about the 1.7 update for Stardew Valley, and it sounds awesome! He’s saying we’re getting a brand new farm type, plus a bunch of new things to do with the villagers. He just said “lots more,” which is exciting! And good news for Switch players – he also mentioned we’ll hear about the Switch 2 version of the game pretty soon. I’m super hyped!
When a fan asked about clues for the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.7 update on X (formerly Twitter), developer Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) shared that it will include more content focused on characters and relationships. He also hinted at the addition of a new farm type, saying there’s much more in the works but he’s not ready to reveal details yet. Barone initially announced the update in August and mentioned in September that it will take a significant amount of time to complete.
We’re planning to expand on the characters and social interactions, and it’s become a tradition to introduce a new type of farm. There’s a lot more in the works, but I don’t want to share too many details just yet.

Stardew Valley is getting a special version for the new Switch 2 console, which will allow players to use a mouse and play with up to four people locally. The update will also let players share the game with each other. It was originally planned for release this fall, and with only a few days left in the season, the developer, Eric Barone, has hinted on X (formerly Twitter) that an announcement about the Switch 2 version is coming very soon.
Okay, so Stardew Valley got a HUGE update – 1.6 dropped in early 2024! It’s awesome – there’s a new farm type called Meadowsland, fishing festivals are a thing now, and you can even grow carrots! It’s keeping me busy for sure. And on top of all that, the creator, ConcernedApe (Eric Barone), is already working on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier. Seriously, this guy doesn’t sleep!
