Stardew Valley will receive another update eventually, but it won’t be released for a while. The creator, Eric Barone (also known as ConcernedApe), is asking fans not to get too excited about update 1.7 just yet, following its announcement last month.
Stardew Valley’s creator, Barone, gave fans an update on X about the upcoming 1.7 patch. While he teased that more details are on the way, he also cautioned that the update will take some time to finish. He clarified that this update is different from the Switch 2 Edition, which is planned for release this fall and will feature mouse support and local co-op for up to four players.
We have more updates planned, but we’re trying to avoid building too much excitement right now. The update will still take some time to finish.

The big 1.6 update for Stardew Valley arrived in 2024, adding features like multiplayer for up to eight players, a new farm called Meadowlands, and fishing festivals. After finishing the update, developer Eric Barone announced he’s returning to work on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier, which was first revealed in late 2021. This action-RPG promises a blend of mystery and charm, and Barone hopes it will have a successful launch similar to the recent release of Hollow Knight: Silksong.
I’m still hoping for a sequel to Stardew Valley, and it sounds like Eric Barone, the creator, hasn’t ruled it out! But honestly, he seems to really enjoy working on the original game right now. He mentioned in an interview that it’s just a lot simpler to add new content to Stardew Valley than to start building a completely new game from the ground up, and I totally get that. I’m happy to see him continuing to support the game we all love!
