It’s been more than two weeks since Eric Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, made a surprising announcement. Since then, he hasn’t shared any new information about the upcoming 1.7 update, which is why fans are eagerly asking for more details on his social media posts.
Barone explained to a user on X why he’s keeping details about the upcoming patch – including when it will be released – private. He wants Eric to focus on creatively guiding the patch development process and avoid putting unnecessary pressure on the team working to improve the game.
I’m working on more stuff, but honestly, I’m trying to keep a lid on the excitement for now. The update still needs a lot of work, so it’s going to be a while before it’s ready to share.
The fan said they understand and will wait without rushing things. Besides seeing posts from excited players, they also had legitimate questions for the developer, specifically about whether the 1.7 update might be delayed on consoles.
ConcernedApe said they’re working hard to release updates for PC and consoles around the same time, hoping to avoid the delays that happened with the previous update.
Eric announced that update 1.6 came out on PC in March 2024, but console players received it much earlier, in November of the previous year. Hopefully, the next update, version 1.7, won’t have such a long wait between the PC and console releases.
