Star Wars vs. Marvel Avengers Crossover on the Way — Report

A crossover between the Marvel and Star Wars universes might be coming soon, and Mark Millar is reportedly the driving force behind it.

A Marvel/Star Wars crossover comic is reportedly on the way

As a huge Disney fan, I’m used to seeing their properties team up! They love bringing Marvel and Star Wars – which they’ve owned for years now, since 2009 and 2012 – into the mix. It was so fun seeing those worlds collide with Phineas and Ferb a while back, back in the mid-2010s, and I’m always excited to see what crossovers they come up with next!

When Disney bought 20th Century Fox in 2019, it allowed for characters from both companies to appear together in new stories. A recent example is the four-part comic book series, Planet of the Apes vs. Fantastic Four, which started in February 2026. The story involves Marvel’s Fantastic Four finding themselves stuck in Ape City.

The comic crossover has generally received good reviews, though some people haven’t been fans. Notably, Rob Liefeld, one of the creators of Deadpool, recently criticized it on X (formerly Twitter), predicting even bigger issues with the upcoming Star Wars/Avengers crossover and saying, “Just wait… yeesh.”

Despite Rob Liefeld’s critical comments, Marvel Comics is reportedly planning a limited series crossover between the Avengers and Star Wars, with Mark Millar writing the story, according to Bleeding Cool.

Mark Millar is a well-known name in comics, having first become famous working for DC and Marvel. For the last ten years, he’s focused on his own comic book company, Millarworld, which Netflix acquired in 2017.

Although Mark Millar signed an agreement to work only with Netflix, sources at Bleeding Cool say Netflix actually ended their relationship with him last year. This means he’s now free to create comics for both DC and Marvel again.

Millar is a big Star Wars enthusiast and often references the original movies – he’s said he quotes them or mentions them daily.

The exact timeline for the upcoming Star Wars/Avengers comic isn’t known, but back in September 2024, the creator mentioned on the Word Balloon podcast he’d only return to Marvel if he could create a story more impactful than ‘Civil War.’ ‘Civil War’ was a major crossover event from the 2000s that divided the Marvel Universe, pitting heroes led by Captain America against those led by Iron Man. It was later turned into the popular 2016 movie, ‘Captain America: Civil War’.

Millar explained he wasn’t interested in doing smaller projects. He’s aiming for something even more significant than ‘Civil War,’ which is already Marvel’s best-selling graphic novel of all time. He believes his current idea has the potential to surpass it, but he’s keeping the details secret for now.

It’s still unconfirmed whether Mark Millar was referring to an Avengers/Star Wars team-up when he spoke in 2024, and Marvel hasn’t officially announced any such crossover yet.

Marvel fans can find the next installment of Planet of the Apes vs. Fantastic Four when it arrives on March 11, 2026.
