The storyline of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has come to an end, revealing the true backstory behind Jude Law’s character Jod Na Nawood.
The new Star Wars series, titled Skeleton Crew, can be seen as a galactic version of the classic movie, The Goonies. It follows a band of young explorers as they set off on a thrilling journey, encountering interstellar pirates and uncovering hidden riches in the cosmos.
Over the course of eight episodes, Wim, Fern, KB, and Neel voyaged through space, embarking on an adventure where they encountered Jod Na Nawood (played by Jude Law), a character who asserts himself to be a Jedi, but appears more like a pirate.
His goal is to amass Credits as currency, whereas the children yearn to return to their home planet, Attin. Here’s a possible rephrasing:
His aim is to accumulate Credits, acting like coins, contrasting with the kids who long for the journey back to their home, Attin.
Meeting the Supervisor in Skeleton Crew
Episode 8 – titled ‘The True Guardians’ – sees Jod conversing with the overseer of At Attin, known as The Supervisor. Despite being voiced by Stephen Fry, it is disclosed that The Supervisor isn’t human but a colossal robot, sharing a faint resemblance to HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
It seems that Jod declares himself to be a Jedi, but recent communication from the Republic, possibly referring to Order 66, labels all Jedi as traitors. This suggests that Jod might be deceiving us about his true identity or intentions, unmasking him as the pirate he actually is.
Responding to the situation, Jod retrieves his Lightsaber and uses it to defeat the Supervisor, causing a blackout across At Attin. Taking charge of the planet’s infrastructure, Jod orders, “Let’s start the invasion,” calling upon his comrades to join him.
As events unfold, the children swiftly respond, zooming towards the crisis on their Hoverbikes, reminiscent of ET. However, it seems they have arrived too late, as Jod has already taken control over At Attin, addressing the crowd that if they obey his commands, he will spare them mercy.
The truth about Jod Na Nawood revealed
As Jod Na Nawood awaits the arrival of his pirate comrades, he shares tales from his past, revealing that, unlike a Jedi, he has indeed had connections with one in the past.
At your age, all that mattered to me was avoiding starvation,” Jod recounts. “I lived in a cave, and then a Jedi discovered me. She might have been struggling herself, but she saw something in me, told me I had potential. She imparted just a bit of knowledge before they tracked her down. And they made me witness as they took her life. That’s the galaxy – it’s shrouded in darkness with rare glimmers of hope. For those glimmers, I’ll do whatever I must, including taking lives.
Following this, Jod delivers a speech expressing his concern about preserving the planet and his interest in gaining credits. Amidst his talk, Wendle strikes him, Wim seizes the Lightsasber, and together they dismantle the protective shield encircling At Attin. This action allows the X-wings to breach the atmosphere and drive off the pirates.
At the finale, Jod witnesses his vessel colliding with the planet’s ground, as the kids regroup and their robot companion SM-33 joins them again. Fern informs Wim that it seems he no longer needs to undergo that school test, and the scenes conclude, wrapping up the series.
Eight episodes of the series “Skeleton Key” are currently available for streaming on Disney+. For those curious about upcoming Star Wars films and television shows, be sure to check out what’s coming next, such as additional seasons of “The Mandalorian” featuring Grogu, as well as “Andor Season 2.”
