The new series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy recently revealed that WWE Superstar Becky Lynch will be playing a character in the show. Fans are already speculating about her role, with one theory connecting her Starfleet officer to the characters played by Holly Hunter and Carol Kane. Produced by Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will debut on Paramount+ with two episodes on January 15, 2026.
Becky Lynch, whose full name is Rebecca Quinn, has been revealed as a character in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy almost two months after the show’s trailer debuted at New York Comic Con. This is the first official image of Lynch as her character, and it comes nearly a year after she was initially announced as part of the cast.
We still don’t know the name of Becky Lynch’s character on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. From a photo Lynch shared, we know her character is a human (or appears to be) Starfleet officer who works on the bridge of the USS Athena, and she wears a gold Operations uniform.
Star Trek Fan Theory About Becky Lynch’s Starfleet Academy Character Could Link Her To Holly Hunter & Carol Kane
Ryan T. Husk, the producer and host, shared an intriguing idea about Becky Lynch’s role in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. He discussed it on the The Main Viewer podcast during Virtual Trek Con.
Devon Husk wondered if Becky Lynch’s character, a Starfleet officer, might be related to Captain Nahla Ake, the role played by Holly Hunter, who has been nominated for an Academy Award.
Holly Hunter and Becky Lynch look somewhat alike, which opens up the possibility their characters in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy could be sisters or family members. If they are related, it would mean Becky Lynch’s character also has Lanthanite ancestry. Captain Ake is already known to be half-Lanthanite and is a very old 422 years old.
Lanthanites are a recently introduced species in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds who appear identical to humans but live for an incredibly long time. The first Lanthanite character is Commander Pelia, played by Carol Kane, the unusual Chief Engineer of the USS Enterprise, and she is over 5,000 years old.
Right now, the idea that Becky Lynch’s character in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is a Lanthanite or connected to Captain Ake is just fan speculation. Still, it could be a really interesting way to tie her character into the larger, ongoing story of Star Trek.
Becky Lynch Is WWE’s Most High Profile Star Trek Crossover
Becky Lynch will make history when she appears in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, becoming the most well-known WWE wrestler to ever be part of the Star Trek universe. While Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson previously appeared on Star Trek: Voyager in a single episode as the Pendari Champion, Lynch’s role is expected to be more significant.
Dwayne Johnson achieved worldwide fame as a movie star after a small role on Star Trek: Voyager early in his acting career. Meanwhile, Becky Lynch, known as “The Man,” appears in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy while already a hugely popular WWE Superstar.
Two professional wrestlers appeared in Star Trek: Enterprise. Tommy “Tiny” Lister, Jr., famous as Zeus in WWE, played the Klingon Klaang in the show’s first episode. Paul Wight, known as “The Big Show,” portrayed an Orion slave trader in the fourth season episode, “Borderland.”
If Becky Lynch appears in multiple episodes of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, she’ll immediately have a more significant role in Star Trek than any other current WWE wrestler. However, it’s still unclear how frequently she’ll be featured on the show, which takes place aboard the USS Athena.
