Squid Game’s Final Season: Release Date & First Look Revealed!

Are you all set for the grand finale? The release date for the third and concluding season of the hugely popular South Korean series “Squid Game” on Netflix has been announced.

The third season of ‘Squid Game’ is set to debut on June 27, picking up from where the suspenseful ending of season 2 left off.

The second season of the popular show ‘Squid Game’, comprising seven episodes, premiered on December 26th. Interestingly, this season was shot simultaneously with Season 3, meaning viewers won’t have to wait as long for new episodes compared to the gap between Seasons 2 and 1 (which aired in 2021 and wasn’t initially conceived as an ongoing series).

In Season 2, the character Gi-hun, also known as Player 456 (performed by Lee Jung-jae), re-enters the brutal tournament that he won three years ago, earning a staggering 45.6 billion South Korean won. Now, his goal is to dismantle the Squid Game and protect his fellow players from its deadly clutches.

In Season 2 of “Squid Game,” Lee acts alongside returning actors Wi Ha-jun (as Jun-ho) and Lee Byung-hun (in the enigmatic role of the Front Man). Additionally, a group of newcomers join the cast. The series is created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, who also directs and serves as an executive producer, with Kim Ji-yeon contributing to the production in a similar capacity.

The Season 2 finale concluded dramatically, leaving us hanging on a significant plot twist, while a mid-credit sequence hinted at the potential direction of the “Squid Game” saga as it enters its third and last chapter.

By this past Tuesday, “Squid Game” Season 2 had achieved the title of the second most-viewed television series in a non-English language with over 173 million total views and an impressive 1.2 billion hours watched since its debut.

In its debut season, the record-breaking series that garnered the highest viewership on Netflix, received a total of 17 Emmy nominations. Notably, it clinched six awards, among them one for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, awarded to Lee, and another for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, which went to Lee You-mi.
