Okay, fellow fans, a quick heads-up! I just finished watching episodes “Catch” and “The Doll” from Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2, and things got intense! I’m about to share some details, so if you haven’t seen them yet and want to go in completely blind, you might want to pause here. Seriously, spoilers ahead! You’ll need a Netflix subscription to watch, of course, and proceed at your own risk – I don’t want to ruin the surprises for anyone!
The reality competition show, Squid Game: The Challenge, is back for a second season and, so far, I find it more entertaining than the original scripted series. The first season wrapped up with a fantastic finale, and the new episodes are already proving to be exciting, filled with drama and emotional moments as contestants compete for a life-changing $4.56 million prize.
The new season quickly turned harsh when contestant Mark Levy (number 100) experienced bullying from someone he considered a friend. During a challenge involving throwing a ball, contestant 272 publicly told Mark that people wouldn’t pass him the ball because of his appearance and build.
Contestant 272 explained they were trying to defend most of their team, but others immediately stepped in to support contestant 100, making it clear they didn’t agree with what 272 had said. I spoke with Levy afterwards and learned how he was feeling during the exchange.
It was a deeply upsetting experience. I suddenly felt like I was back in my elementary school gym. Then, someone I trusted said something really hurtful, and it instantly brought back those old feelings. I was so shocked I could barely speak, and what amazed me even more was seeing everyone – even people I didn’t usually agree with – come to my defense. It was incredibly kind and supportive.
The most pivotal moment of the episode centered around Contestant 100, with viewers eager to see him silence his doubters. However, as often happens with reality TV, a happy ending wasn’t in the cards. He fumbled a crucial throw later on, eliminating both himself and Contestant 443 from the competition.
If you were hoping for a resolution, Mark Levy did speak with Contestant 446 after they were both eliminated. He’s put the situation behind him and now views the moment differently, having had time to reflect on it.
I believe Ryan had good intentions, but his actions negatively impacted both his performance and mine. We’ve resolved the issue now, but it wasn’t handled effectively.
Honestly, I was relieved to hear that Contestants 100 and 446 patched things up. It seemed like a really heated moment, but it’s good to know he didn’t mean to be that harsh to his teammate. I’m a big fan of Squid Game: The Challenge, and there’s definitely plenty of cutthroat gameplay, but usually it doesn’t get quite as personal as that argument. It was a bit much, even for that show!
I really liked the finale of ‘The Million Dollar Secret,’ but it reminded me of a common problem with many Netflix reality shows.
I’m hoping the reality show Squid Game: The Challenge lasts longer than the original Squid Game, which is ending after three seasons. Even though I worry its success might prove we missed the point of the show’s message, ultimately, a well-made TV show is still a good thing.
As a huge fan of competition shows, I’m really excited that Prime Video now has Beast Games alongside other series. It’s great to see them pushing each other to see just how far people will go for a big prize! Honestly, I’m hoping Disney+ jumps into the ring too and gives us their own take on this format – that would be amazing!
More episodes of Squid Game: The Challenge will be available on November 11th. Make sure you’ve watched the previous episodes so you’re ready for the final stretch of the competition!
