Be warned! This article contains spoilers for the second episode, “Sacrifice,” of Squid Game: The Challenge. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’ll need a Netflix subscription to watch and should stop reading now if you want to avoid spoilers.
The second set of episodes for Squid Game: The Challenge have been released, and despite some tough eliminations already, the show continued to deliver emotional moments. The latest episodes featured a particularly difficult competition where a father and daughter faced off against each other, and TopMob has the inside scoop on how it all went down.
I spoke with Curt and Zoe Stinson, a father and daughter who competed in a game of tic-tac-toe using marbles on the show “Sacrifice” to determine who would move forward. The scene was a highlight and showcased why this show sometimes surpasses the original, but it made me wonder if Zoe truly believed her dad would let her win. She recently explained her choice of competition in an interview with CB.
I probably suggested tic-tac-toe on purpose, because it’s a game you can easily control to either win or lose. My dad always claims it was a fair match, but we all know he let me win.
As a father to a daughter myself, I suspected Curt would intentionally lose to Zoe so she could take his spot. Plus, if only one of them could win, Zoe was clearly the stronger, more athletic competitor and had a better chance of winning Squid Game: The Challenge.
It’s always difficult to truly predict what someone else will do. Zoe proposed the game hoping her father would let her win, and she actually expected him to do so.
I really thought he was going to do that anyway. While I feel bad that he was eliminated right after, I’m grateful he allowed me to continue in the game.
It’s unlikely this situation relates to the themes in John Mayer’s song “Daughters,” but Zoe’s comments are still interesting. They highlight the strong bond she said she had with her father, and suggest she understood him well. She seemed confident that, even in a difficult situation like the one on Squid Game: The Challenge, he would prioritize her.

Let’s be real, Zoe didn’t make it to the finale of Squid Game: The Challenge. I’m still watching to see who does win, and honestly, if the finale is anything like last season, I’m completely happy to just sit back and enjoy the chaos. Bring on the final players!
I’m really enjoying this show! It reminds me of series like Beast Games on Prime Video, and I’m curious to see if it will be as good as Season 2 of The Challenge. Honestly, I hope Netflix takes notice and tries to make all of their competition shows this captivating.
The final episode of Squid Game: The Challenge will be available on Netflix on Tuesday, November 18th. Tune in to find out who wins the huge cash prize!
