Surprisingly, the highly-ranked Korean drama on Netflix has been dethroned by an unexpected competitor, which is not a fresh release or a well-established series.
Instead, the established wrestling show, WWE Monday Night RAW, defied expectations upon its Netflix premiere and quickly climbed to the highest positions on the charts, particularly in North America.
WWE overtakes Squid Game Season 2 to become top Netflix show
Although Squid Game Season 2 maintained the top position on Netflix for several weeks following its release, WWE has managed to knock it off its throne and break the record previously set by the hit series.
For the first time ever, WWE’s iconic program, Monday Night RAW, is now available for streaming only on Netflix, following a groundbreaking deal estimated at $5 billion. The inaugural episode was broadcast live on January 6, 2025, marking the start of this exciting new chapter after months of buzz and excitement.
To make sure WWE’s premiere on Netflix was an unforgettable event, they really went all out by packing the three-hour show with the most prominent figures in wrestling. Stars like The Rock, John Cena, The Undertaker, and Hulk Hogan graced the screen to mark RAW’s shift onto Netflix.
