‘Squid Game 3’ Leads Netflix Korea 2025 Slate

Netflix has revealed an extensive Korean content plan for the year 2025, centered around “Squid Game 3,” a continuation of the series that brings in new cast members such as Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, and Park Gyu-young alongside returning stars Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun.

Starting from June 27, the show dives further into Gi-hun’s decisions in the face of crushing despair, all while uncovering what the mysterious character known as the Front Man will do next.

2025 saw the beginning of the year with romantic series “When Stars Chat,” starring Lee Min-ho as a space tourist who develops feelings for Korean-American astronaut Kong Hyo Jin. The fourth season of dating reality show “Inferno for Singles” resumed, followed by medical drama “The Trauma Code: On-Call Heroes,” which stars Ju Ji-hoon as a brilliant trauma surgeon trying to rebuild a hospital team. These shows premiered in January.

The first quarter film releases feature “Bogotá: City of the Lost” on February 4, chronicling Song Joong-ki’s adventure through Colombia’s illicit trade, and “Melo Movie”, a romantic tale starring Choi Woo-shik and Park Bo-young about aspiring individuals in the film industry, set to release on Valentine’s Day. In March, audiences can look forward to “The Potato Lab”, a whimsical romantic comedy starring Lee Sun-bin and Kang Tae-oh. Lastly, starting from March 7, “When Life Gives You Tangerines” will be released in installments, featuring IU and Park Bo-gum in a romantic story set on Jeju Island.

In the Q1 schedule, the supernatural thriller “Revelations” makes its debut, featuring Ryu Jun-yeol portraying a pastor who receives heavenly warnings to bring justice against a kidnapper. Shin Hyun-been plays a detective tormented by her sister’s untimely demise in this film as well. “Hellbound” creators Yeon Sang-ho and Choi Gyu-seok have teamed up once more on the project, with Alfonso Cuarón taking on an executive producer role.

The second quarter showcases “Resident Playbook,” a spin-off of “Hospital Playlist” that focuses on the lives of ob-gyn residents, and “Heavenly Ever After,” where actress Kim Hye-ja and actor Son Suk-ku explore romance in the afterlife. Crime thriller “Mercy for None” sees So Ji-sub back in the world of noir action, while “Tastefully Yours” features Kang Ha-neul as a wealthy heir who becomes a recipe hunter.

The intense crime drama titled “Karma” showcases Park Hae-soo as a character who finds himself in a perilous situation following an enigmatic incident, while Shin Min-a portrays a doctor grappling with the repercussions of past traumas from her childhood. The star power continues for the second season of “Weak Hero Class 2,” where Park Ji-hoon returns as Yeon Si-eun, now confronting escalating violence at his new school alongside fresh faces, Ryeo-un and Choi Min-yeong.

Kian’s Bizarre B&B” and “The Devil’s Plan Season 2”, starring YouTuber Kian84 and baduk (go) champion Lee Se-dol, respectively, along with “Beef” actor Justin H. Min, are among the upcoming content. Additionally, there’s the documentary “The Echoes of Survivors: Inside Korea‘s Tragedies”, which continues the powerful narrative begun by “In the Name of God”.

The third quarter lineup introduces several new titles: the apartment thriller “Wall to Wall,” starring Kang Ha-neul; the youth romance “Love Untangled” with Gong Myoung and Shin Eun-soo; the dating makeover series “Better Late Than Single”; and the contract killer drama “Mantis” featuring Yim Si-wan. In addition, Kim Nam-gil and Kim Young-kwang star in the action thriller “Trigger,” while Lee Ha-nee takes the lead in the period drama “Aema.” The friendship saga “You and Everything Else” stars Kim Go-eun and Park Ji-hyun, accompanied by the variety show “Crime Scene Zero.

2021 concludes with the release of “Good News,” a hijacking thriller set in the 70s starring Sul Kyung-gu, followed by the supernatural romance “Genie, Make a Wish” featuring Kim Woo-bin and Suzy. Additionally, we have “As You Stood By,” a domestic noir starring Jeon So-nee and Lee You-mi. In “The Great Flood,” actors Kim Da-mi and Park Hae-soo navigate apocalyptic floods, while Lee Jun-ho acquires cash-based superpowers in the film “Cashero.

The lineup is completed by three offerings: “Can This Love Be Translated?” featuring Kim Seon-ho as a versatile translator in a romantic mystery thriller, “The Price of Confession” starring Jeon Do-yeon and Kim Go-eun in a gripping mystery drama, and two extended reality shows – “Physical: Asia” evolving into an international competition and “Culinary Class Wars Season 2” capitalizing on the success of its groundbreaking first season.

Netflix debuts its first Korean animated movie titled “Lost in Starlight,” where Kim Tae-ri lends her voice to an astronaut involved in a romantic story set on Mars and Earth. In contrast, the period mystery “Dear Hongrang” showcases Lee Jae-wook and Cho Bo-ah as they unravel the mysteries surrounding missing individuals and family secrets.
