The second season of “Save The Tigers” reigned supreme over Telugu content, boasting a staggering 5 million viewers, while “Inspector Rishi” from Prime Video took the lead in Tamil content with 4.9 million viewers.
Among international movies on streaming platforms, Prime Video’s “Road House” was the lone production to surpass 5 million views, marking a somewhat subdued year for international films. Notably, Prime Video accounted for six of the top ten titles in this category, while Netflix claimed the other four positions.
The research also found that well-established franchises largely controlled the international content scene, with seven titles appearing in the top 10 rankings. Among these were “The Boys” Season 4 (boasting 10.5 million viewers) and “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2 (attracting 8.8 million viewers).
In terms of popularity, as measured by Ormax Power Rating (OPR), the third season of Prime Video’s “Panchayat” was the highest-rated Hindi series in 2024, scoring a impressive 77 points. On the international front, “Squid Game 2” took the lead with a score of 73 points, while Netflix’s “Spaceman” was the top-scoring international film with 62 points. Close behind was Disney+ Hotstar’s “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)”, which earned 61 points.
The analysis spotlighted intriguing patterns in marketing excitement, as “Mirzapur” Season 3 reached a peak buzz level of 63%, the maximum for any streaming series in 2024 and placing third on the all-time chart, surpassed only by “Mirzapur” Season 2 and “The Family Man” Season 2.
The study solely examined original programming streamed online, omitting content like movies from cinemas, time-shifted TV, and sports broadcasts. Ormax Media’s approach was based on direct consumer surveys carried out throughout India, predicting the overall streaming market within the nation.
