1047 Games has shared that a free trial version (alpha test) of their game Splitgate will be accessible from February 27 to March 2. This trial can be enjoyed on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
The alpha test offers a fresh multiplayer mode involving 24 players, where they can divide into three sets of eight and engage in combat with each other. In these battles, you will find two gameplay options: Domination and Hotzone. In Domination, the goal is for teams to capture and control four distinct zones, while keeping rivals at bay. Hotzone operates under similar rules but focuses on a single central zone instead of four separate ones.
Two fresh game modes, Splitball and Firecracker, have been introduced. In Splitball, players engage in a mix of capture-the-flag dynamics and Halo’s Oddball mechanics. Players must jump through portals into enemy territory to snatch Splitballs while safeguarding their home base. Firecracker, on the other hand, is an adaptation of the traditional search & destroy mode from Spligate 2.
Additionally, you’ll find three freshly introduced maps in the game. The Glacier map supports large-scale battles involving 8 teams of 8 players each, and it is twenty times larger than any map from the previous version. Bypass, on the other hand, is significantly more vertical in design, while Eden features an abundance of portal walls throughout.
In our sneak peek at Splitgate 2 by TopMob, we mentioned that features such as character classes and special abilities make the game stand out among numerous shooter games that are quite similar.
