As a hardcore CS:2 fan, I can confidently say that the Perfect World Shanghai Major was the pinnacle of esports events this year! The adrenaline-pumping action, the nail-biting matches, and the unexpected upsets made every moment worth it.
The Shanghai Major, which was the second-ever Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) Major Championship, attracted a huge audience both in person at the venues and online, with more than 1.3 million viewers tuning in. This spectacular tournament showcased some of the finest CS2 gameplay yet, and it was Team Spirit who emerged victorious, taking home the esteemed trophy.
The Shanghai Major Playoffs were an intense battle with many remarkable moments and some unexpected results. The FaZe Clan team, under the guidance of their renowned Danish In-Game Leader Finn “karrigan” Andersen, outperformed most predictions, defeating heavy favorites G2 Esports and Team Vitality to reach the Grand Final. Meanwhile, on the other side of the competition, Team Spirit overpowered Liquid 2-0 and then turned the tables on MOUZ in a reverse sweep to earn their place in the final showdown.
Despite Robin “ropz” Kool’s commendable performance for FaZe Clan, it was Team Spirit’s Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and Boris “magixx” Vorobiev who dominated the leaderboards. Interestingly, Danil “donk” Kryshkovets broke records by being the youngest Major MVP at just 17 years and 11 months old, and he also set a new standard as the highest-rated player in a Major event with an impressive HLTV rating of 1.49!
Take a look at the detailed results for each of the three maps provided, including exact scores, so you have a clear understanding of how everything unfolded.
- Team Spirit wins 13-8 on Nuke. (FaZe’s map pick).
- FaZe Clan wins 13-6 on Ancient (Spirit’s map pick)
- Team Spirit wins 13-11 on deciding map Dust2.
Check out the two videos below, featuring Danil “donk” Kryshkovets’ impressive ace (eliminating all five players) on the Ancient map.
