Spider-Noir Is Finally Bringing Peter Parker’s Greatest Love Interest to TV

The character Spider-Noir is already generating discussion because the movie is making significant changes to the original story. It’s unusual that Nicolas Cage is playing Ben Reilly instead of Peter Parker, and he’ll be known simply as ‘the Spider,’ not Spider-Man. This could make the plot unnecessarily complicated, particularly since many fans initially thought this version of Spider-Noir would connect to the critically acclaimed film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, with Cage returning in his role.

It’s definitely possible we’ll see other Spider-Noir characters break away from their original stories, but it’s important that one character, Cat Hardy – who has the potential to be the first live-action Black Cat – isn’t played too cautiously. Hopefully, the filmmakers will take some risks with her portrayal.

Spider-Noir Has a New Take on Black Cat

Li Jun Li will play Cat Hardy in the upcoming series Spider-Noir. The character appears to be a fresh interpretation of Felicia Hardy, and ‘Cat’ may be a stage name with Felicia being her given name.

In the first Spider-Man Noir comic series, Felicia Hardy owns and runs the Black Cat, a popular nightclub, but doesn’t have a large role in the story. The upcoming Spider-Noir show might follow a similar pattern with her character. However, since the show is already making changes to the original comic book stories, it’s likely that this version of Felicia will be quite different from the one readers know.

Will Cat Hardy Become Black Cat?

Considering how popular the character is, it’s surprising to realize that Felicia Hardy, also known as Black Cat, will only be appearing in live-action for the second time. The first was Felicity Jones’ portrayal in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. While Felicia has often been a significant love interest for Peter Parker in the comics, with their relationships ranging in intensity, Spider-Man Noir presents her with a completely new and different role.

Cat Hardy isn’t officially Black Cat unless she wears the costume. Plus, she might even choose to become the White Widow instead.

It would be amazing to see Black Cat brought to life in a gritty, old-fashioned, black-and-white movie. However, her role might be smaller – perhaps she’s just a club owner with a romantic interest in other characters.

It remains to be seen where the story goes with Spider-Noir. However, viewers shouldn’t anticipate a close adaptation of existing characters, as this version feels fresh and isn’t connected to previous Spider-Man Noir stories.
