A recent rumor suggests the next Spider-Man movie, currently titled Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day, could feature multiple mutants. While unconfirmed, many believe X-Men’s Jean Grey will appear. The film, set to release this summer, will continue Tom Holland’s story as Spider-Man within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Rumor suggests multiple mutants for Spider-Man: Brand New Day
So, I saw this interesting bit of news online. The Geeky Cast, who I follow on YouTube and listen to their podcast, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that we might see multiple mutants showing up in Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day. It’s exciting, but they didn’t say where they heard this from, so it’s definitely just a rumor for now. Still, a lot of us are hoping it’s true!
One fan guessed Cyclops might make an appearance, likely because of rumors about Jean Grey being in the movie and their strong connection in the comics and other Marvel stories. But the source confirmed Scott Summers wouldn’t be in this film. James Marsden will reprise his role as Cyclops in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ movie, which comes out in December.
For now, this is just a rumor, and we should consider it as such until Marvel or Sony officially confirms it.
The rumor surfaced quickly after fans began speculating about Rogue joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This speculation started after the first trailer for the film showed a quick glimpse of a young girl on a bus who resembled Rogue, with her distinctive hair and color. It’s currently unknown if the girl is actually Rogue or just a background character.
The new Spider-Man movie, “Brand New Day,” will be released on July 31, 2026. Set four years after the events of “No Way Home,” the film follows Peter Parker as he dedicates himself to fighting crime, now that the world has forgotten who he is – including his friends Ned and MJ. While solving a series of crimes and facing a dangerous new enemy, Peter undergoes a transformation that strengthens his spider-like powers and gives him the ability to create webbing naturally.
The movie was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the Disney+ series Wonder Man. The screenplay was written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who also co-wrote the scripts for the previous Spider-Man movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Tom Holland stars as Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man. The movie also features Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo. Rounding out the cast are Marvin Jones III, Eman Esfandi, Zabryna Guevara, and Liza Colón-Zayas.
