But hey, there’s always a glimmer of hope – one character might just survive to experience more days in this gripping tale.

1923 presents a harsh landscape. The Dutton family braces for a severe winter, their ranch remains in dispute, and Spencer and Alex are on the verge of undertaking a perilous trip to Montana.

Due to the developments in Season 2, it’s likely that we will witness an unfortunate increase in tragic losses, as depicted in Taylor Sheridan’s prequel series.

However, one character stands out among fans as a likely inclusion, and upon examination, the rationale behind this choice becomes quite apparent.

Spencer Dutton will likely survive 1923 Season 2

According to fan speculations, it seems likely that the character Spencer will survive into Season 2. This is not only due to his growing popularity among viewers, but also because the narrative arc of Yellowstone up until now appears to be leading in this direction.

Among the most compelling evidences is a soliloquy delivered by his forebearer, Elsa Dutton, who foresaw that at least one of her brothers would survive. Given that John I perished in Season 1, this narrows it down to Spencer being the probable survivor.

Elsa mentioned that out of James and Margaret’s children, only one made it to adulthood and carried on the ranch during the depression and beyond. Elsa and John are no longer here, but Spencer – the one born in Montana – was the lone survivor among the three siblings. He not only lived through those challenging times, but also passed the ranch on to the next generation, surviving himself.

In addition, we find a character named John Dutton, Jr., who would be John Dutton III if Kevin Costner’s father is indeed John Dutton. This suggests another generation within the family. It’s not clear at this point, but it seems that Spencer’s son might become John Dutton, Jr. in future episodes.

Another person repeated Elsa’s words, stating: ” ‘Just one would witness their own children grow up.’ John had already witnessed his son grow. At the time of John’s death, Jack was on the verge of getting married. ‘Only one would bear the destiny of this family through the depression and every other calamity the 20th century brought upon them.’ That role will fall to Spencer.

Moreover, it’s clear that Spencer possesses an exceptional set of talents, as he has demonstrated the ability to navigate through various perilous situations, such as lion encounters, shipwrecks, and numerous adventurous escapades, without any external assistance.
