Taylor Sheridan’s popular series is gaining attention again after a two-year hiatus. As Season 3 approaches, Special Ops: Lioness is once again a hit with streaming viewers.
A new report from FlixPatrol shows that the action series Lioness, starring Zoe Saldaña, is quickly gaining popularity on Paramount+. It’s currently the sixth most-watched show on the platform in the United States. Only two other series created by Taylor Sheridan – The Madison and Marshals – are performing better, ranking at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively.
The show Lioness is performing well on streaming platforms, following its renewal for a third season in August 2025. Although a specific release date hasn’t been announced, Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, and the rest of the cast are all anticipated to return.
Taylor Sheridan is well-known for his Yellowstone universe, and his series Lioness has quickly become popular since it first aired in 2023. Although it took longer than usual to get renewed for a third season, Lioness aims to continue providing the exciting action and compelling stories viewers love about the spy thriller.
Will Lioness’s Upcoming Third Season Be the Last?
As a longtime follower of Taylor Sheridan’s work, it feels like a major shift is happening. He’s leaving Paramount for a new deal with NBCUniversal, and honestly, I’m a little worried about what that means for his current shows. For years, he’s had pretty much free creative control at Paramount and CBS, but that’s likely to change. I’m starting to see signs that his future projects, and even the continuation of shows like ‘Yellowstone’ and its spin-offs, might face more restrictions going forward.
As a big fan of Taylor Sheridan’s work, I’ve been following the news about his shows closely. It seems some are doing incredibly well and will keep going, but others, like Yellowstone, are wrapping up sooner than he initially intended – the original plan was for seven seasons! It’s a bit of a mixed bag, actually. While audiences seem to be enjoying everything his team puts out, critics haven’t been as impressed, and that’s definitely been the case with the new Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals.
Taylor Sheridan’s shows aren’t performing as well as they used to, and his less popular series might not continue once he leaves Paramount. Considering how long it took for season three of Lioness to arrive, viewers shouldn’t expect many more seasons beyond that. It’s unlikely Lioness will have a long run.
Special Ops: Lioness is available to stream on Paramount+.
