Be warned! This article contains spoilers for the *Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test* episode “Warzone.” Watch the episode on Hulu if you want to avoid spoilers, and proceed with caution!
Episode 4 of *Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test* saw the departure of its most well-known contestant, Jussie Smollett. Many were surprised to see him on TV again, especially on Fox. His elimination was particularly emotional, and I didn’t anticipate such a strong reaction.
Tobias Smollett’s history of quitting things made him a focus on the show, and viewers likely wondered if he’d finish or leave like many contestants before him. Considering how few people actually complete the program, it was probable he wouldn’t last, but that didn’t make his departure any easier for the former *Empire* star.
Jussie Smollett Was Medically Disqualified
Following the simulated city exercise, Jussie Smollett started coughing during the drive back to camp. Back at the barracks, his cough worsened, producing phlegm, and it became obvious that coughing was causing him increasing pain. He eventually sought medical attention from the medic, who then consulted with the staff after examining him.
The crew gathered with the medic and explained to Smollett that he had a bad lung inflammation likely caused by an allergy to the desert sand. Because of this, he had to leave *Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test* and wasn’t allowed to continue the competition due to medical reasons.
The Actor Had A Breakdown Shortly After Having His Armband Taken
After a couple of less-than-dramatic exits on Season 4 of *Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test*, it was particularly upsetting to watch Jussie Smollett struggle in the medic room. No matter what people think of his history, he joined the show hoping to prove his strength and move forward. Seeing his efforts fall apart on TV was difficult, but it honestly reflects the intense reality of the show.
More On Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test
Brody Jenner recently shared his honest opinion about the reality show ‘Special Forces,’ and he thinks the actual training is far more intense than what viewers see on TV. Despite this, there’s one other reality show he says he’d absolutely never participate in.
As we saw with Eva Marcille’s departure, *Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test* really pushes people to their limits. That’s what makes the show so interesting, but it can also be quite heartbreaking to watch.
Honestly, I really hope Jussie Smollett can look back on his time on ‘Empire’ with some pride, and that he’s able to find some peace moving forward. As for the rest of the cast, I’m just wishing everyone stays healthy for the rest of the season. It’s always so disappointing to see anyone leave the show because of a medical issue – it’s just the worst way for a contestant’s journey to end.

Okay, movie fans, here’s a deal you’ll want to check out! If you’re a student, you can snag Hulu for just $1.99 a month – that’s a massive 75% off! Normally, the plan with ads costs $9.99 (and will be going up to $11.99 after October 21st), but as long as you’re enrolled in a qualifying US college or university, you can verify your student status and enjoy super cheap streaming, including shows like *Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test*. The discount lasts as long as you’re a student, so it’s a fantastic way to binge-watch without breaking the bank.
Catch *Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test* on Fox Thursdays at 9:02 p.m. Eastern. I’m eager to see what difficult challenges the remaining contestants will face and who will be the next to quit as things get even harder.
