It’s puzzling to understand Sienna’s actions in this episode. Her brief appearance at the end, dressed modestly yet unexpectedly in a tiny dress and carrying gift bags for girls she might not even meet, raises more questions than answers. The situation reminds me of a long line of flags waving continuously in China. I’m struggling to decipher her strategy or motives. We could patiently wait until the next episode for clarity when Sienna and Shep discuss things. But, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good speculation session? So, we might as well engage in some wild guesses and discussions about it for an entire week before we find out the truth.
The story opens as Shep mistakenly shops for vacation attire alongside Molly, searching for Hawaiian shirts and shorts. However, he’s in the wrong store, attempting to win over a 26-year-old woman who isn’t particularly interested. His plan is to arrive in her homeland adorned with sunglasses, tan lines, a half-burn from the sun, and a pink flamingo-themed bathing suit set. That’s as cool as a surface scorched by multiple suns! But when Molly arrives in her stylish bikini, she looks absolutely stunning – I think this is called ‘drop dead gorgeous’. And here’s Shep, stuck on a girl who isn’t returning his calls? Really now.
The tension between Shep and Sienna is spilling over into their group. During lunch with Taylor, Rodrigo receives a call from Shep, which he puts on speakerphone. Taylor instructs him not to reveal her presence, and listens in on the entire conversation. I think this act goes against the principles of bro code, Geneva Convention, and Eileen Davidson Accords. Shep confides in Rod that he’s uncertain about Sienna and receiving mixed signals. Essentially, Shep is saying that she is young, perhaps too young for a man who is two decades her senior, and as ready to commit as a dog who has just spun around three times while looking at the couch cushion.
Taylor seems to zero in on the fact that Rodrigo perceives Shep as being disrespectful towards her, but I believe Taylor might be projecting based on her past experiences with Shep, which we’ve witnessed often. However, it’s uncertain if this is truly what’s happening between them here. Instead, it could be that Shep is simply making excuses for a woman who doesn’t seem to reciprocate his feelings, as Paige, Madison, and Miranda Hobbes would all agree.
Upon arriving in the Bahamas, Venita apparently missed the flight, still emotional from Donald Trump Jr Jr’s rejection on live television. Sienna, who is supposed to be there, can’t be located. Shep repeatedly calls but only gets voicemail. The group grows anxious, wondering if she’ll even appear for this trip. Eventually, Sienna responds, saying she’ll meet up with Shep at the hotel much later on. This isn’t a woman eager to see him; it’s clear she’s postponing an obligation. To her, encountering Shep and their friends is as appealing as arranging a dental cleaning appointment. That’s just how every boyfriend wants to feel, like getting a number at the DMV.
Rest assured, he’s got a strategy in place; Shep unfolds a note from his pocket during the car ride and shares it with the guys, explaining that it contains everything he intends to convey to Sienna. Frankly, I’m not so sure there’s anything left to say. It seems she’ll be the one making the call here, and I sense the decision might already have been made. The note should read more like a schoolboy’s request from way back in 8th grade: “Will you be my girlfriend? Check one – Yes or No.
The potential issue that might disrupt the Sienna drama is a minor disagreement over room assignments at Baha Mar resort, where the girls and boys will each have their own suite. The problem lies in the fact that there are only three bedrooms in each suite, meaning someone will need to share. Craigy, who values his privacy as a ‘pretty, pretty princess’, expresses displeasure at this prospect, but since it’s a free trip combined with work, he’ll have to compromise. Austen and Rodrigo might take the shared room to prevent any unnecessary tension before the rooms are assigned. It seems premature to cause a fuss before knowing the final room assignments.
Upon everyone’s arrival for lunch, Shep remarked, “Sienna put in a great deal of effort to bring us here.” It seems so? Was that her? What exactly did she do? Did she arrange the hotel? Did she assign our rooms? Did she welcome them at the airport and show them her home? Nope, she didn’t. In fact, I believe she’s doing everything possible to steer clear of this whole affair. It strikes me as rather unwise for Shep to insinuate that Sienna played a role in organizing this vacation, much like attempting to perch on a swim-up bar. (Trust me, it’s not the best idea.)
During lunch, tension arises between Shep and Taylor due to the complexities of Shep’s new relationship with Sienna in relation to Taylor’s past relationship with him. Taylor questions the status of their relationship, as they haven’t explicitly defined it yet despite three months having passed for Shep. This leads her to wonder if she’s actually his girlfriend, or if their connection is just superficial. They also discuss when Shep first declared his love for her, with Shep admitting it was around the third month and he may have been under the influence at the time. Taylor seems to use this as evidence of Shep’s unreliability, yet she dated him for years after that. It appears Taylor might be criticizing Shep unfairly given her own history with him.
Taylor displays an impressive resilience. Upon Shep expressing his feelings, Taylor queries, “Where exactly do you feel this love?” Indeed, that is the extent of Taylor’s interactions this season. In fact, that is all Taylor has shown this season. Taylor suspects the issue lies in Shep not effectively communicating with Sienna, a pattern reminiscent of their past relationship dynamics, which are absent in this situation. While it may be unclear if Shep has explicitly expressed his love for her, it appears that Taylor has deduced these feelings and seems disinterested in reciprocating them. As for Craig and Austen, I wouldn’t rely on them when it comes to matters of the heart (frankly, I doubt they could clarify what IPA stands for). However, they are correct in their assessment that Sienna is keeping Shep hopeful.
Stepping onto the set, it’s evident that Sienna isn’t quite resonating with the vibe, much like Kristen Doute on “The Valley.” Her gift bags, while a thoughtful gesture, appear more like leftovers she’s eager to unload – akin to swag bestowed upon her unwillingly. As a renowned empath, Craig’s intuition suggests Sienna’s energy is far from harmonious in the room. If you ever need your chakras realigned or a soothing sound bath, Craig’s your man!
It’s clear that something doesn’t feel right, as Craig observes, and it should be evident to anyone watching the situation unfold. This is why I expressed confusion about Sienna’s intentions. She appears uninterested in their relationship, so why not end things before he departs for his trip? Instead of wishing him enjoyment at the resort while secretly breaking up with him, couldn’t she have said something like, “Things are over between us?”
Perhaps Sienna wants to act honorably by breaking up with him in person. But if that’s her intention, why wait until the beginning of the trip when he’ll be stranded in the Bahamas, brooding over their relationship? Is she planning to prolong the breakup for a few more days and then end it before he returns home? Or is she staying with him because she wants to participate in the show and gain some level of fame? Although that may be plausible, her actions don’t suggest that she’s trying to maximize her screen time like a desperate hopeful. I just can’t figure out what her strategy is. Is she merely acting indifferent, or is there more to it than meets the eye? Could it be that she’s simply apathetic towards the whole situation? After all, that’s always a possibility.
They depart for dinner, allowing Shep some private time with Sienna and giving her an opportunity to assist him in selecting an outfit. However, it turns out that was a misstep, my friend! Craig’s advice would have been wiser: he should have worn a T-shirt and maintained a stylish appearance when she arrived. Instead, he should have left his hair product undisturbed and kept things tidy. He should have tidied up his room, arranging his clothes neatly in drawers or at least in organized piles in his suitcase. Unfortunately, she arrives to find him disheveled, his room a mess, and herself faced with the task of instructing a grown man on dressing etiquette. This isn’t her responsibility, and it certainly won’t win him any favor.
The crushing moment arrives when he’s chosen his best outfit, only for her to mention giving him space to change. Space to change? For a man with whom she’s been intimate for half a year? That’s a significant downgrade, and it shows in Shep’s outburst, “I’ve seen you change a million times,” as she gracefully exits, carrying a champagne glass and descending the stairs like a serpent, step by step, deliberately and with an ominous intent. She’s tracing her body around the apartment, flicking her tongue here and there, searching for the perfect spot to settle, to feel at ease before Shep appears, allowing her to finally strike the lethal, poisonous blow that will terminate their relationship permanently.
