As a dedicated gamer, I’d put it like this: “After the unfortunate passing of conservative media personality Charlie Kirk, Comedy Central decided to hold off on re-airing an episode from South Park’s 27th season that I was looking forward to – ‘Got A Nut’. Guess I’ll have to catch up on some other episodes for now.
On the 10th of September, Wednesday, during his ‘American Comeback Tour’, Kirk was delivering a speech at Utah Valley University. Tragically, he was shot dead in the neck.
In the present moment, the perpetrator remains unidentified, yet the FBI have discovered an item that appears to be the gun used in the shooting, along with high-quality video evidence of the suspected individual.
Kirk was strongly aligned with the MAGA ideology and established the conservative youth activist group known as Turning Point USA. More recently, prior to his passing, he found himself featured in a South Park episode.
South Park Season 27 rerun pulled after Charlie Kirk shooting
Originally scheduled to broadcast reruns of South Park Season 27 Episodes 1-4 on Wednesday, Comedy Central decided to withdraw Episode 2 from the lineup following the recent tragic events, due to its potentially sensitive content.
In the episode titled ‘Got a Nut’, Cartman goes up against Clyde in a competition. He emulates Charlie Kirk’s style at South Park school, eventually mastering debate skills and employing tactics much like those utilized by the influential figure within the MAGA movement.
Concurrently with this storyline, Mr. Mackey gets fired from his position as the school counselor and subsequently becomes part of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. Meanwhile, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, takes an action that results in Krypto the dog being shot.
The parody caused a commotion within conservative circles prior to Kirk’s passing, despite the fact that Kirk himself found humor in it by posting an episode clip with the comment, “Not bad, Cartman.” Additionally, he declared to Fox News that it served as a “source of pride” for him.
In the future, episodes of ‘Got a Nut’ will no longer air on Comedy Central. But don’t worry, you can still watch it on Paramount+.
Even though Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park, don’t use social media, Parker’s former wife, Boogie Tillmon, posted a tribute to Kirk on the Instagram account @thesouthparkers.
Instead of the image featuring Kirk and his family, she penned a message that read, “Y’all are heartless! Let’s pray for Charlie, his lovely spouse, and their kids.
