Sophie Turner Is In The Throes Of Tomb Raider Training: ‘I Feel Like I Could Probably Beat You Up Right Now.’

Recent video game adaptations, such as The Last of Us and Fallout, have finally proven successful after years of attempts. The upcoming Tomb Raider series, starring Sophie Turner, is hoping to continue this trend, and Turner is dedicated to making it happen.

In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon the host brought up the fact that Turner had been cast in Tomb Raider. And while it was only just confirmed a few months ago that Turner was in the role, she revealed that she’s been training for the part for nearly a year already, which means she’s in such good shape she thinks she could take down the host. She said…

I’ve been training since February last year. So I feel like I could probably beat you up right now.

The dress Turner wore on The Tonight Show wasn’t exactly athletic, and it made it hard for her to demonstrate any physical skills. Still, she likely keeps in good shape – a year of serious training could transform most of us. This is a reminder that I need to hit the gym again.

You can watch the Tomb Raider series on Amazon Prime Video with a 30-day free trial. After the trial, it costs $14.99 per month, or you can pay $139 for a full year – saving 22% off the monthly cost. See the deal here.

The new Tomb Raider series, coming to Prime Video, looks very promising. Starring Turner as Lara Croft, and with Phoebe Waller-Bridge writing and co-running the show, it’s likely to offer a fresh and unique take on the iconic character.

The show has added some well-known actors to the cast, like Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs. Based on who they’ve hired, it seems this new series will tell a completely new Tomb Raider story, rather than retelling one from an existing game. This isn’t unusual for the franchise – only the 2018 Tomb Raider movie with Alicia Vikander was based directly on a game, and it didn’t lead to any sequels.

So, I was reading up on the Tomb Raider series coming to Prime Video, and apparently, they haven’t even started filming yet! That means we’re still a ways off from seeing anything – trailers, set photos, anything. But Lara Croft herself, Alicia Vikander, is definitely getting into shape. She didn’t, uh, practice on Jimmy Fallon, but I’m guessing she’ll have plenty of opportunities to throw down once filming actually begins. I’m really excited to see her take on the role!
