Sony’s new 27-inch PlayStation monitor includes a DualSense controller charging dock

Sony is releasing a new 27-inch gaming monitor for PlayStation that’s designed to work perfectly with the PS5, even letting you conveniently charge your DualSense controller while you play. It’s scheduled to become available in the U.S. and Japan in 2026.

This announcement highlights Sony’s ongoing efforts to expand the PlayStation experience beyond just home consoles. Since the PS5 launched, Sony has focused on giving players more options – whether they want to play on a large screen or remotely with the PlayStation Portal. This new display is designed for gamers who enjoy playing in smaller, more private spaces.

This 27-inch gaming monitor works seamlessly with the Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, which were released in September. Together, they create a complete and immersive gaming setup for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, designed to deliver a great experience even in smaller rooms.

This monitor boasts a crisp QHD IPS display with a 1440p resolution. It enhances gaming on PS5 consoles with HDR and automatic tone mapping, and it dynamically adjusts its refresh rate for smoother visuals. It supports up to 120Hz on PS5 and PS5 Pro, and can reach an impressive 240Hz when connected to compatible PCs and Macs.

What makes this monitor special is its built-in charging station for PlayStation DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers, allowing players to charge their controllers right from the screen.

Connectivity and compatibility

The PlayStation Gaming Monitor supports VESA mounting and includes multiple connectivity options:

  • Two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 input
  • Two USB Type-A ports and one USB Type-C port
  • Built-in stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio output

So, Sony’s got this new monitor coming out, but honestly, they haven’t said how much it’s going to cost yet. It’s a bit frustrating as a gamer because I’m already trying to save up, and it won’t even be out until 2026! It’s tough to plan when you don’t know the price tag.

Just a few months ago, Sony announced they were already working on the PlayStation 6, their next gaming console. They also hinted at potentially releasing a portable device to go with it.
