Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Gets Major Filming Update After Finally Casting Amy Rose

Filming for the sequel is now underway. Director Jeff Fowler announced the start of production today on X (formerly Twitter).

Jeff Fowler, director of the Sonic the Hedgehog films, announced that production has begun on the fourth movie, currently titled #SonicMovie4. He shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) showing him holding Amy Rose’s hammer, hinting at the character’s inclusion and potentially a voice actor search for the pink hedgehog who is a love interest for Sonic. The film is scheduled for worldwide release in March 2027.

Sonic Has Become a Major Franchise for Paramount

Following the success of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies reaching over $1 billion worldwide, Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins praised the franchise’s incredible momentum. He congratulated SEGA, the filmmakers like Neal, Toby, and Jeff, and the dedicated fans who have supported the series, noting their contributions to Sonic’s continued success.

Paramount is making a fourth Sonic movie, planned for release in December 2024. Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, and Idris Elba will reprise their roles as Sonic, Tom, and Knuckles. Although his character appeared to die in Sonic 3, Jim Carrey has hinted he might return as Dr. Robotnik.
