As a seasoned gamer with decades of Sonic adventures under my belt, I must admit, I was initially skeptical about another Shadow the Hedgehog appearance. However, after giving this update to Sonic Dream Team a spin, I’m pleasantly surprised! The new abilities, particularly Chaos Control and Chaos Shift, add a fresh twist to gameplay that sets Shadow apart from our speedy blue friend.

Today, on December 18th, Developer Hardlight in collaboration with Sega, rolled out an update for the exclusive Apple Arcade title, Sonic Dream Team. This latest update introduces Shadow the Hedgehog as a brand new character that players can control.

Shadow possesses unique skills stemming from his Chaos energies, unlike just being a re-themed Sonic character. He can employ his Chaos Control and Chaos Shift abilities, freezing both adversaries and surroundings. By overcoming Shadow’s tasks, you can unlock these powers.

Participants have the opportunity to engage in Tails’ Trials to gain access to using Shadow within the Adventure setting. Additionally, there are six fresh Shadow-inspired statues to accumulate, an updated tutorial, and newly composed soundtracks.

This year, Sega has been quite enthusiastic about Sonic’s anti-hero character, Shadow. In October, they launched Sonic X Shadow Generations, a revamped version of the 2011 Sonic Generations game, including additional Shadow content. Starting on December 20, you can catch Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in theaters, featuring Keanu Reeves as Shadow.

In the TopMob’s Sonic X Shadow Generations review, we pointed out that this game commemorates a particular phase in the Sonic series, showcasing both its strengths and weaknesses.
