Sega and Waze have teamed up to let Sonic the Hedgehog guide you with turn-by-turn directions in the Waze app.
Starting today, October 15th, Waze is adding Sonic the Hedgehog as a new voice option for turn-by-turn directions. You can choose to hear directions in either English or French. Sega says Sonic will guide you with his signature cool and confident style. However, don’t expect him to tell you to “go fast!”

Waze now features a bunch of fun icons inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog! You can even make your car look like one from the Sonic Racing: Crossworlds game with the “Speedster Lightning” icon. Plus, selecting the “Energetic” mood gives the app a more vibrant, Sonic-themed look.
Sega is teaming up with Waze to mark Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary. The company promises more exciting news and celebrations throughout the year leading up to the milestone in 2026.
This isn’t the first time Waze has teamed up with a video game. The GPS app, owned by Google, previously let Master Chief from the Halo series guide drivers, and also featured the World of Warcraft character Thrall as a voice option for directions.
