It’s common for players to spend money in free-to-play games, but recently, things have gotten extreme. Since the game Where Winds Meet launched on November 14th, one player has already acquired an in-game item worth a substantial amount of money.
$70K for a digital boat? Hope it comes with a full crew
Where Winds Meet is a free-to-play action RPG set in China with a unique twist. Unlike many games, you can actually type what you want to say to characters instead of picking from limited dialogue choices. Surprisingly, this AI-powered feature is proving popular with players. It feels less like a replacement for good writing and more like an engaging experiment that makes the game world feel more alive.
Like many free-to-play games, Where Winds Meet lets you purchase in-game items through a gacha system. These include outfits, weapon skins, helpful items, and mounts to speed up travel across the large game world. Currently, the most expensive item is the Mirage Boat, which requires 170 Diagrams to unlock. One player has already obtained it, and the community is trying to calculate the total cost, with estimates between $40,000 and $70,000.

- To get the Mirage Boat, you need 170 Diagrams, and each “Mirage Torn Page” apparently costs 1 Harmonic Core.
- Players have done the math: 1 Harmonic Core is about 150 draws, which works out to roughly $400. So 170 cores (all the pages you need) could cost around $68,000.
- Other sources estimate it a bit lower, around $42,000, depending on your luck.
- On Reddit, players suggest the real cost probably falls somewhere between $40K and $60K if you factor in normal pity rates and unlucky pulls.

The Mirage Boat in Where Winds Meet is mostly a cosmetic item, meaning it’s for looks. However, it can be used to travel on water, so it’s not useless. Its main purpose is to show off – it increases your Elegance stat by 10,000 and lets you take friends on pre-set scenic routes. One player on Reddit shared a picture of themselves enjoying a ride, and it looked amazing!
