Snoop Dogg to Star in and Co-Produce Luc Besson’s Sci-Fi Movie ‘The Last Man’ (EXCLUSIVE)

As a lifelong admirer of both Snoop Dogg and Luc Besson, I am beyond excited about their upcoming collaboration on “The Last Man.” Their shared history in the world of entertainment, spanning almost two decades, promises a unique blend of talent that is sure to captivate audiences.

The rapper Snoop Dogg is set to act in and help produce Luc Besson’s upcoming original science fiction film called “The Last Man.

Despite the fact that the post-apocalyptic storyline remains a secret, there could be some connections between it and Dogg’s 2009 song “Last Man Standing.

Luc Besson, renowned for his work on “The Fifth Element” (1997) and “Lucy” (2014), has penned a new project titled “The Last Man.” Known for dabbling in science-fiction, he brought Bruce Willis to life in “The Fifth Element” and Scarlett Johansson in “Lucy,” with the latter becoming a box office sensation, earning $469 million worldwide. Four years later, Besson directed the expensive “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets,” which grossed $226 million globally. Expect “The Last Man” to follow in the footsteps of “The Fifth Element,” combining elements of science-fiction, humor, and action.

Previously, Dogg and Besson collaborated approximately 20 years back for the animated film “Arthur and the Minimoys.” In this production, Dogg lent his voice to one of the principal characters.

The upcoming movie will be created by Virginie Besson-Silla and Luc Besson under the production company EuropaCorp, along with Dogg and Sara Ramaker through their label Death Row Pictures. Principal photography is scheduled to start in the year 2025.

Besson has been a longtime admirer of Snoop Dogg’s music, especially his song “Who Am I.” They first crossed paths twenty years ago, and ever since then, they’ve harbored the desire to collaborate again. The perfect opportunity finally presented itself in the form of this project where Snoop will be the main star. I’m really looking forward to diving into it!

Besides sharing that he’s long admired Luc Besson, Snoop added that his dream has been to have Besson direct an entire film featuring him. Now, they both have the chance for this aspiration to become reality as Besson will write and direct Snoop in a movie produced by Luc Besson.

During the Summer Olympics, Snoop Dogg served as both a torchbearer and a special correspondent for NBC Olympics in Paris. Additionally, he put on a performance during the handover segment of the closing ceremony, hinting at the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Besson, who recently directed “Dogman” featuring Caleb Landry Jones, is now working together with him again on the project “Dracula.” This new adaptation of Bram Stoker’s famous Gothic tale will also star Christoph Waltz.
