As a passionate movie buff, I’m thrilled to share that Peacock has dropped the trailer for “SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night” – an engaging docuseries that takes us on a journey through the rich history of that iconic late-night sketch show and the comedians who breathed life into it.

Based on an official summary, “SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night” is a four-part documentary series celebrating the enduring impact of Saturday Night Live. Over 60 contributors, including SNL alumni, share their insights across decades of SNL history. Each episode highlights some of the show’s most memorable moments, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the audition process, the writers’ room, the popular “More Cowbell” sketch, and significant moments from Season 11.

The video preview showcases highlights from some of ‘SNL’s’ most iconic skits such as “More Cowbell,” “Two Wild & Crazy Guys,” and Chris Farley’s “Matt Foley/Van Down by the River.” It offers a glimpse into backstage conversations with past and present ‘SNL’ stars including Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Seth Meyers, and Bowen Yang.

Morgan Neville, an Oscar-winning documentary maker and executive producer for ‘SNL50’, has shared that he’s been fascinated with ‘Saturday Night Live’ since his earliest memories. For the 50th anniversary, he’s had the privilege of working alongside several independent filmmakers whom he admires. These collaborations have resulted in unique episodes that explore deeper aspects of ‘SNL’ and uncover what truly drives its success.

The series is directed by individuals such as Robert Alexander, Marshall Curry, Neil Berkeley, and Jason Zeldes. Additionally, Neville, Caitrin Rogers, and showrunner Juaquin Cambron act as executive producers. “SNL50” is produced by Jonathan Formica, Allison Klein, and Tremolo Productions.
