As a seasoned gamer with years of NCAA Football simulation experience under my belt, I must admit, the SMU Mustangs vs. Penn State Nittany Lions matchup was a nail-biter! With a history of playing both teams virtually countless times, I can confidently say that this game followed the script more often than not.
This weekend marks the start of the College Football Playoffs, with 12 teams competing to claim the National Championship for the first time ever. Although Penn State was defeated by Oregon in the Big 10 Championship, they remain a strong contender worth watching. Similarly, the SMU Mustangs also suffered a loss in their Conference title match, but they’ve managed to defeat two other ranked opponents during the season and secured a spot in the playoffs. However, as there can only be one winner moving forward.
SMU Mustangs vs. Penn State Nittany Lions CFP Results According to College Football 25
As a die-hard gamer, I’m predicting that according to College Football 25, my favorite team, Penn State, will come out on top against SMU with a score of 27-6 in our next matchup. In the initial stages, SMU managed to keep up, but they failed to put any points on the board after the first quarter. On the other hand, the Nittany Lions gradually built their lead throughout the game, a lead they never relinquished, securing their spot in the next round of the College Football Playoffs.
TEAM | 1st Quarter | 2nd Quarter | 3rd Quarter | 4th Quarter | FINAL |
#11 SMU | 6 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 6 |
#6 PSU | 7 | 13 | 7 | 0 | 27 |
Today, Abdul Carter played exceptionally well, accumulating four sacks and six stops that pushed the quarterback backward. His impact was significant as he consistently disrupted the Mustangs’ offensive line, leaving their quarterback vulnerable. By the end of the game, Carter had amassed a total of ten tackles, undeniably earning himself the right to receive the game MVP award.
In terms of propelling the Nittany Lions’ offense forward, Nicholas Singleton served as the driving force. He managed to accrue 144 yards and score two touchdowns from 25 rushing attempts, and also caught four passes for an additional 28 yards. Drew Allar performed admirably, but it was the effectiveness of their ground game that kept them on the field and in a position to score.
It was a rough day for SMU QB Kevin Jennings, who did complete 26 of 35 passes. However, he threw an interception and only threw for 182 yards. WR Key’Shawn Smith was the only player who made a real impact for this offense (7 catches, 95 yards).
In the early stages, Southern Methodist University (SMU) managed two promising drives, but after that, they found it challenging to accumulate points. Penn State didn’t have an overwhelming advantage in Time of Possession. On the contrary, SMU had no trouble gaining first downs. However, the main problem was that they failed to conclude their drives successfully.
After their victory, the Nittany Lions advance to encounter the Boise State Broncos next. Ashton Jeanty, the Broncos’ running back, has been exceptionally productive this season and will pose a significant hurdle for Penn State to overcome. If SMU emerges victorious, they’ll have to deal with that challenge when the Fiesta Bowl rolls around later this month.

To sum up, here are the results from the SMU versus Penn State game, as per College Football 25. We trust you had a great time watching, and we look forward to bringing you more exciting simulations down the line.
In the future, we aim to enhance our simulation capabilities in multiple aspects. Although we’ve tweaked both CPU and Player settings, it appears that CPU vs. CPU games are not affected by these adjustments. Yet, we’re persistently seeking solutions to optimize this game series. Meanwhile, we’re excited for the upcoming real match this weekend.
