Michael Cusack, co-creator of Smiling Friends, recently shared that new episodes are in development. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he revealed the team has already written two scripts for Season 4 and is working on a third, expressing excitement about the creative process and generating new ideas.

In the same interview, Cusack also talked about finishing the most recent season and what the team learned from the experience. He explained that the writing process is now much smoother and scripts come more easily. Looking ahead, he wants to prioritize having fun and collaborating with Zach Hadel, no matter how popular the show becomes or how much attention the scripts receive.

Zach Hadel, one of the show’s creators, also pointed out that the second season had some difficult hurdles. He explained that with the third season, they really found their rhythm, gaining a deeper understanding of the characters, and he appreciated that each episode felt fresh and distinct.

This update comes just after the end of Smiling Friends’ third season, which finished on November 30, 2025. The season finale focused on the character Glep, concluding a run of eight episodes. The show follows Charlie and Pim, who work for a company that tries to bring happiness to people.

Since it first aired in 2022, Smiling Friends has become popular on Adult Swim, and the network has already ordered two more seasons.
